Charlie's POV
We get ready for the party after just screwing around on the ice all day with my friends as Adam ran practice with his team. Adam says "you brought the white ducks jerseys?" I say "I did, wanna swap?" He says "yes please" as I toss my jersey at him. I say "it's trippy seeing Gunner around." Adam says "mmm, yeah. He's funny though. He's cool and I know you are all mine." I laugh saying "I'm not leaving you for Gunner. Get it out of your thick skull" and he hugs me from behind, kissing my neck.

He says "I'm just messing with you, sunshine" and I kiss him. We go to the party and the girl handing out flyers the other day is at the front door saying "if you're over twenty one, bar is over there. They will ID you. Kids vs adults hockey game at ten" smiling. She fist bumps Adam and I and I say "what if I play for the kids." Adam says "just so you can smoke me? Yeah, I'm good" chuckling and I smile at Adam.

I see Clara and she comes over to me saying "hey!" I say "hi" smiling and she hugs me saying "you guys are the cutest. We need a picture for the Instagram. Turn around and like put your hand in each others pockets or something." Adam chuckles saying "ok" and we put our backs to her, I rest my hand on Adams lower back and he puts his hand in my back pocket. He turns his head and I turn my head to him, kissing him. Clara says "why does my husband not do this with me? Does he even love me?"

I chuckle saying "oh honey, he let you wear the pro jersey, he loves you." She chuckles saying "I guess" and Jacob comes over and says "hey, baby, I missed you." I chuckle saying "I missed you too, Jacob." I hear "life of the party is here, people!!" I chuckle when I see Dean pointing at Adam. I chuckle and we go over and Adam sits down. He says "come here" and I sit on his thigh and he pecks my lips. Dean says "how'd you throw a party like this?"

Adam says "the little ducks threw this. I think they're over there" pointing at the kids. We talk to the Anaheim Ducks and our old original ducks then I hear the loud clinking of a glass. Jacob yelling "I have something to say!" I chuckle and I move to sit in Jacobs empty chair next to Adam. Jacob says "when I first met Adam, I was thinking now that's an attractive man." Everyone laughs and Jacob says "like how does he not have four girlfriends by now? We were both fresh out of high school and when I saw this pale boy from the middle of nowhere, clearly out of place, in California I said this hottie is my new best friend. We're best friends by now and that's when I meet Charlie. Honestly my fiancé at the time and I were ready to play hardcore matchmaker for them. Then about five years later they told us they were together and have been since junior year of high school. When we left your house that day, Clara said dammit, they beat us to it." We laugh and clap at his story then one of the other ducks go up, Kyle.

Kyle is the oldest guy on the Anaheim Ducks. He's known as the dad of the team. He walks up and says "since we're telling stories about Adam, I'll tell mine." Adam says "better not be the one I'm thinking of!" Kyle says "it's not! When I met Adam, I was like who is this little boy that's allowed to be on Honda Center ice right now?" We laugh our asses off and Kyle says "so I was twenty five at the time, I know I'm old. Anyway, Banks came in fresh out of high school, just turned eighteen, and he just keeps to himself. He was a shy kid back then but he became the heart of the team. He's the reason I didn't leave when I was thirty. I'd miss the way he makes us all feel when he comes into the locker room. He doesn't talk much but he has the heart and energy of a real duck."

Adam wipes his eyes, chuckling quietly, and I squeeze his hand. Evan goes up after Kyle and says "uh hi, I'm Evan and I'm a duck at the end of the day. No matter what. One of my first nights here, the first time I met Charlie, I knocked on his door. I ask him for help with my shot because he's the shooting king. He popularized the triple deke like come on, dude. Anyway, he told me that I remind him of coach when he was younger because he always had to play and he always had to be a playmaker. I guess what I'm getting at is that these guys are really motivational and they are so cool. I want to say on behalf of the younger ducks in the room but I think I could speak for the rest of them and say we're really happy for you two and are extremely proud to be apart of this community you two have created. We're really proud of you guys cause it takes a lot of courage to say something like that."

We clap and Adam says "I might actually cry" and we chuckle quietly. I rub his back and he smiles at me. Fulton goes up and says "Charlie is the heart of the ducks, if he wasn't here when Coach Bombay showed up. I'd probably be playing college football and two hundred pounds heavier. He was the reason we had so much fun all the time even when we had the captain blood era or Coach Ted Orion. Nothing on Ted Orion but he was one hell of a guy at the time. Anyway, Charlie's the reason we had fun and Adam is the reason we were good at hockey. We have a lot of credit to give to those two and yeah, it's hard to come out to the people you're closest to. We were last to know and our feelings aren't hurt, so don't think they are."

Then Adam goes up saying "guys, you are making me cry. I wouldn't be where I am at all without Charlie. If he didn't kiss me that one night in our dorm room I'd probably be a washed up minors hockey player coaching and married to a girl my father picked out for me. I'd probably still be good with my parents but I would not be living the best life I could ever imagine. I'm playing pro hockey, I'm married, I have a bunch of friends, and I get to teach kids how to play and work like I do as a summer job. This is the greatest life I could live. I want to thank all for what they said cause god, you had me tearing up and I'm happy to have you all."
