xiii. days twenty-six and thirty-three

DAY TWENTY-SIX

after taking a long time off by herself luna decided to head back to what was left of the group. as she was walking back she watched as ivan walked off a makeshift light in his hand. she was confused but she ignored it as she walked tiredly back to the tent.

"where's he going?" she asked stopped next to kirin as he stood next to the fire. "to join the rest of the traitors, he's not gonna come back."

luna nodded slowly, "did you kick him out? or did he just leave on his own?" she asked as she continued walking over to the tent, kirin followed behind her. "he um. . left on his own."

luna laid down against the sand after grabbing a hoodie that was big enough to cover her whole body. she felt the warmth as kirin laid next to her, pulling her into him. she sighed as she relaxed, the tiredness getting to her. "you okay?" kirin asked softly, "yeah, just tired. today was. .a lot."

kirin agreed, "yeah, get some sleep. i got you."

DAY THIRTY-THREE

it's been several days and everyone's been adjusting to the fact that there's not as many in the group as there was. luna spent the days with kirin at the waterfall or off by herself trying to stay okay and not focus on the hell her and everyone else is suffering in.

it was their thirty-third day on the island.

i guess you could say they were trying to make the most of it as kirin and josh had now set up a stack of empty beer cans. luna sat with her knees to her chest as she watched watched kirin throw something knocking down all the cans. "lights out bitches!"

"hell yeah" kirin yelled as josh laughed, luna smiled as she watched him celebrate.

"did i not just call it?" kirin yelled as josh did a ridiculous dance in celebration.

"lights all the way out! i mean fuses are blown. i'm he peer grids are down. theres rolling blackouts across the eastern seaboard.- woah josh, kill switch"

"right, yeah, totally."

"hey, can you go grab me some water and some sunblock? and then i'm gonna need you to restock the beers as soon as you can, huh?" kirin asked josh who immediately agreed to his orders.

"on it like a bonnet." luna shook her head as she stood up and wiped the sand off of her shorts. "josh, honey, seriously? you don't always have to listen and do what people tell you too." luna explained, walking over to kirin.

"that was just a test, josh. one that you did not pass."

"oh, god, sorry." josh apologized as he made his way back over to the two. "no sorrys. just learn the lesson. like luna said you don't always have to do shit for other people, no questions asked. that's bitch behavior."

"and you know what bitches get?" luna heard scotty ask as the three boys returned from gathering food. "fishes."

"whoo-hoo. nice!" kirin rubbed his hands together, "you reel that in?" he asked.

scotty hesitated and stuttered on his words, bo answering honestly instead, "seth did."

"man, i-i need you to not live your life like you're always hooked up to a damn polygraph." scotty scolded bo.

"wait, you talked to that asshole? you let him give you that?" kirin questioned. "they caught extra." bo answered.

"who gives a shit? we don't take handouts from dirtbags."

"when we're low on food, we do. i don't know if you noticed the shortage since you've been busy scratching at your clap sack and playing frisbee with your mini me or shacking it up with your girl or trying to light your farts on fire."
