"C'mon babe, you know you don't want to miss this."Brielle smiled at her boyfriend. "I don't know, Brett," she then frowned, "what if we get caught?"
Brett chuckled, "We never get caught. This is just like the last one. No one will get hurt."
Brielle shook her head. "I just don't thinkー"
"And if it's a success, I promise it'll be the last. No, even if it's a failure, it'll still be the last one. I promise you," Brett pushed. He knew he could get her to agree.
"I'm not sure babe. Let me think about it," Brielle said reassuringly. Brett let out a long sigh but agreed to his girlfriend's terms nevertheless. They said their goodbyes and went on home. Brielle walked the long alley that lead to her house. Her parents had no clue she wasn't home. They didn't know their perfect little girl, the pride and joy of the family, snuck out every night. It would be different if it was to have a date with the guy everyone thought she was dating. No, she had a date with her real boyfriend every night. The guy everyone thought she was dating, well, he was just a cover up. There's no chance her parents would approve of her dating Brett. Neither would her only friend, Ella. Only one person approved of Brielle and Brett and that was Jarred Young; Brett's cousin and only friend. Brielle considered him a cousin as well.
Brett had jet black hair and bright green eyes. He really was a stunner. But he smoked. And drank. And had piercings. He, like Brielle, had a tattoo. His normal expression was a scoff. Once in a while, he would smirk. Brielle was the only one who ever saw his smile. He didn't have a true home. Brett had ran away with Jarred when he was only ten and Jarred twelve. As soon as he and Jarred reached the small town of Albemarle, where they had decided to stay, they quickly learned that if you wanted to survive on the streets you had better be in a powerful gang. They got involved in the most prominent gang at the time - the Heley Clan. After three years in the Clan, it was evident the Young boys didn't not belong with the Heley's. Jarred posed the idea of creating their own clan and Brett agreed. The rest is history.
Brielle slowly climbed up the side of her parents house; trying to get to her window. She knew she needed to stop seeing Brett. She knew it was wrong to sneak around. Brielle knew it wasn't fair to lie to Greg who honestly believed they were dating.
She knew better than to be around Brett. But there was something about him that made her keep coming back. It was the way he made her feel. The longing in his eyes. The rush she got doing 'work' with him. The way they felt like they belonged together.
A sigh escaped her lips as she climbed into her room. Brielle sat down her bed and reached for a book that had been given to her by one of her friends as a present. It was filled with different quotes and one for each day of the year. Brielle slammed the book shut at the slight of her quote of the day. Chills were sent down her spine. She shook her head and climbed underneath her bed covers.
From that day on, that quote was burned into the back of her mind.
