Ella looked down at her phone. "What the Hades?" She whispered. She read the text at least eight times before it actually hit her.
Is this some sort of lame joke? Ella wondered.
She decided to text Brielle back instead of ignoring her insane best friend.
Are you drunk? She asked.
Crazy girl. Who would she be engaged to? Ella thought. The voice in the back of her head whispered Brett. Ha! That's hilarious! She would never date someone like him. No, Ella, that was mean. You need to be nice. She thought.
If only she knew just how close to the truth she was.

Brielle and Brett walked hand-in-hand down the alley. Jarred was behind them and the rest of the group filed in after him. Sarah Heley had gone a different direction and it wasn't long before someone noticed.
"Hey! Where's Sarah?!" A voice in the back asked.
The Heley's had kept the girl a secret so no one knew she was their sister.
Brett and Brielle exchanged worried glances. "I hope she didn't get lost." Brielle said. Sarah was one of the more tolerable group members.
"We have to keep moving." Jarred said. "We have to get in there and get out before the Heley's arrive." He instructed. The group mumbled in agreement and continued on the short walk.
Across town, Sarah Heley was running as fast as her legs would carry her. She was only fourteen, the age Brielle was when she found the group. Sarah finally made it to the underground room the Heley group occupied at night.
"Z, Matt, they're almost at the bank." She said, breathlessly.
"Alright, let's move out!" Zach Heley yelled. A few cheers were heard from the crowd and they set out.
Sarah stayed at the back of the group to make sure no one ran to inform the Young's. She smirked at the thought of finally ruining them.
The Heley's had everything. Their parents didn't care what they did. They had money. The only thing Zach wanted and didn't have was Brielle. He hated her and Brett for that.
Jarred Young stepped up to back entrance of the bank and played with the lock for a second. "Brie, hand me a bobby pin." He instructed. It was a simple, easily picked style lock. Brielle handed him one from her hair. Her hands shook slightly from nervousness.
"Relax babe." Brett whispered in her ear. She just swallowed hard.
"Okay, it's unlocked." Jarred announced.
"Let's get in, get the money, and get out." Brett instructed. The group walked inside, going to do their assigned things. Brielle walked to the front. Her primary knife was in one hand and Jarred's gun was in the other. She had to make sure no one else was in the bank. If an employee had stayed late, she had to distract them.
She walked into the main office and instantly wished that she had been greeted by an employee.
Even the police would've been better.
Sitting in bank lobby was the Heley clan. Well, half of it. Brielle bit her lip as her gaze met Zach's.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't Brett's little bitch." Matt Heley sneered. Brielle's grip on Jarred's gun tightened. She had one shot. If she tried, she could shoot Matt and hit Zach with her knife.
"Enough, Matt. We want her to like us." Zach Heley scolded his younger brother. Matt just scoffed.
"What do you want?" Brielle snapped.
"Oh baby girl, you know what I want." Zach said with an evil smirk.
Brielle felt like vomiting. A few Heley group members that Brielle didn't recognize stood up and took their places behind Zach. "We can do this the easy way, or the hard way." Zach said.
Brielle shuddered. Zach looked down at Brielle's left hand. "Is that an engagement ring I see?" He asked slyly.
"Yes, as a matter of fact it is." Brielle said.
"Brie? What's taking so-" Brett stopped abruptly as he walked into the lobby. Jarred came in behind him and sneered.
"Oh here's the rest of the welcoming committee." Zach said.
As quick as a flash, everyone had there weapons trained on someone. Brielle had her gun pointed at Zach and her knife ready to throw in any direction. Zach had his gun pointed at Brett. Brett had his knives in his hands, itching to throw them. Jarred's gun was pointed at Matt. Matt had his gun pointed at Brielle.
Zach laughed. "One move and I'll kill him." He threatened. It didn't take much to know who he was talking about. If Jarred or Brielle moved an inch, Zach would fire his gun at Brett and there would be no way Brett would be able to survive.
They stood, ready to attack, for a good ten minutes. Jarred was glad he had instructed the rest of the group to go on back to the room.
Brielle met Brett's gaze. His eyes showed how truly scared he was. Brielle's eyes snapped to a member of the Heley group who had just cocked his gun. He raised it, put it on Brett and moved his finger to the trigger. Brielle's heart clenched. No doubt this person was about to kill Brett.
She decided to take a chance and throw her knife. Maybe, just maybe, Zach's gun would stall and Brett would be okay. She took a deep breath.
I love you no matter what happens, Brett. She thought.

Ella quietly sat in the playroom at her house. The family laptop was on her lap and she was watching the most recent episode of the T.V. show Arrow.
"Ella! Get down here now!" Her mother yelled. Ella knew she wasn't in trouble, but it was very rare her mother used that tone. Something was seriously wrong.
She paused her episode and practically ran down the steps. The T.V. was on the news channel.
"Breaking News." News anchor Katie Brooks said. Ella's heart pounded.
"The Bank of America was robbed earlier this evening." Ella looked at her mom in shocked.
"Momma." Ella whispered.
"Shush."
Ella watched as the news report turned to the current scene at the bank.
"Police are calling it the real-world 'Clash of Clans.' Two rival gangs confronted each other." Reporter Mark Scott said. "Teenagers, ones they might very possibly live in your neighborhood, were involved."
Ella began to tremble in fear. She watched as the report continued, showing the scene at the bank. "Two casualties resulted from this spiff. Zach Heley and Brett Young were both fatally shot. Jarred Young and Matt Heley have been taken in to custody as primary suspects.
Also, what's more shocking is Brielle Blackwell, the daughter of the most respected man in this state, was also involved. She and Mr. Young had just gotten engaged this evening. Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell have not commented on the behavior and engagement of their daughter."
