Trying To Forget

Chapter 11

Recap:

We were nearing he gates and I honestly thought we were going to make it and be free. Stupid me shouldnt have gotten my hopes up because the next thing I heard was the voice that haunts me in my dreams and makes me want to hide.

 

"GET BACK HERE NOWW!!" yelled an angry Evan. 

 

Oh shit.

Chapter 11

Dylan’sP.O.V

When Holly asked me to run away with her I was completely surprised. We have talked about running away a few times, but nothing serious. After the initial shock was gone I was happy and scared. Happy, because Holly liked me enough to ask me to run away with her, but scared that someone will find us and hurt us.

Before I know it though me and Holly are running out the door to escape this horrible place. A cold breeze hits us when we burst though the door but we keep going, as if we are on a high. The gate is approaching closer and closer and I can almost hear the freedom calling me, but then I hear his voice, the voice I have been taking commands from for years, the voice that threatened to kill me brother.

“Come back here!” Evan yells with so much power in his voice, but im not going to listen to him anymore. I look over at Holly but she seems frozen in her spot, too scared to move. Evan was gaining on us so I had to think quickly. I grabbed Holly around the waste and flung her over my shoulder continuing to run through the gates.

She was dazed for a moment, not really knowing what was happening, but when she realized she said, “You can put me down now, I’m fine”

I looked over at her to make sure she was telling the truth, but she was so without breaking my stride I hauled her off my shoulder and put her on her feet.

She ran the same speed as me for a little while, but after 5 minuets of running at top speed she was tiring fast. Since it was apart of my training to be able to sprint for long periods of time this was no problem. I dared a quick look over my shoulder to see Evan still running after us, but we were loosing him. Grabbing Holly’s hand to help her keep pace with me I led us into the woods, hoping we could loose Evan in there.

In the woods it was dark and damp, with moss covering the ground to dull our footsteps. We kept running while dodging trees and I could she Evan getting farther and farther behind, but I could also see Holly get more and more tiered. Even I was getting a bit tiered, so I decided that it was time for us to stop and hide.

“Holly, do you see that tree over there?” I whispered while pointing at the tree. It was huge and had lots of good climbable branches. She nodded, “I want you to climb up that as high as you can, and not to come down or make any noise till I tell you.”

“Ok, but where are you going?” she asked.
