ADAM'S POV
I took out the number Tommy had given me and called his phone. It was Saturday morning, so I wanted to see if he would like to come over. He answered after the first two rings.
"Hello?" was his first word.
"Hi, this is Adam from school."
"Hey! Thanks for calling."
"Of course." I smiled. "Hey, do you want to come over and watch a movie or something?"
"I'd love to," Tommy replied.
"Great. I'll text you the address."
"Okay. See you in a few."
I hung up and texted him where I lived. In the few minutes it took him to get here, I put on my favorite outfit, combed through my messy hair, and went over my guyliner again. I was just finishing up when I heard the doorbell ring. I ran downstairs and opened the door for him.
"Hey-" I said. He surprised me by hugging me as soon before I could finish what I was saying. I hugged him back.
"What'd I do to deserve that?" I asked when he pulled away.
"I missed you. I don't really see you in school often, and you're my only friend so far," was his response.
"Awe, feel free to hug me anytime," I told him. I invited him up to my room where he sat on the bed and patted a space next to him for me to sit, so I did.TOMMY'S POV
I really liked spending time with Adam. He was already my best friend after one encounter, not that that was difficult to accomplish. I've never had many friends anywhere.
"Did you want to watch a movie?" Adam asked me.
"If you'd like to."
"Sure, which movie?" he asked me.
"Oooooh you have Velvet Goldmine," I commented.
"You've heard of it?!" He sounded excited.
"It's only the greatest movie of all time!" I exclaimed, matching his enthusiasm.
"I've never met anyone who likes it as much as me," he pondered out loud.
"Now you have!"
He smiled and put the movie in. I rested my head on his shoulder, but he tensed up a little, so I scooted over.
"Sorry," I said.
"You're fine. I'm sorry. It's just that... Never mind."
"What is it? You can tell me," I told him.
"Maybe another day. I'm not ready to just yet," he said gently.
"Okay. Sorry."
I wonder what's so bad that he has to keep it from me. I hope he tells me soon. I don't ever want to make him sad or uncomfortable again. He's too amazing to feel that way. I'm straight, but that doesn't mean I can't care about him. Right? I'm so confused. Hopefully I'll figure things out soon...ADAM'S POV
I couldn't just tell Tommy that I'm gay and I like him. That would obviously scare him off immediately. One day I might tell him. I don't even know if he's straight. But I hated making him disappointed. I hope I'll never have to do that again.
