At first, Neteyam didn't understand what the metkayina meant, but after glancing at the footbridge a little further away, it hit him like a brick.

Lo'ak was sitting on the wood with his feet dangling in the water, and right next to him was Ao'nung's famous sister, laughing and smiling until her cheeks hurt.
The boy moved his arms and hands to match the story he was telling her at that moment.
They seemed to be enjoying each other's company a lot, even though the two had only met a day ago.
Sometimes time isn't needed for a good friendship to develop, it's the matching personalities that count. And Neteyam truly believed in that statement.

"But, why are you sitting here, watching them like a maniac?", he asked, visibly confused and still trying to make little to no noise. "They're adorable, no?"

Ao'nung crossed his arms, letting out a small and provocative "pff" before looking up into Neteyam's tired eyes. "Your stupid brother is alone with my sister", he spat out while aggressively swinging his tail a little.
"Why should I trust him? She's not extremely strong, he could do anything to her".
That was the last thing the boy said before Neteyam suddenly gained all his energy back and furiously grabbed Ao'nung's necklace with the tooth hanging from his neck. By pulling the lighter na'vi slightly up and getting him to be solidly on his knees, Neteyam wanted to make sure he heard that right.

"So you're saying Lo'ak would harass her? My brother wouldn't even think of doing anything like that. You don't know him, so don't make these false accusations based on one day with him". His grip tightened, and his anger built up inside of him with every word that was coming out of his mouth.
"Now hold up", Ao'nung struggled to bring these words over his lips when he felt Neteyam's grip tightening and pulling him up even more. "I never said it like that, did I? I simply want to protect my sister".

Because the metkayina was underestimating the forest na'vi's strength, he slowly lifted his arms and brought them up to Neteyam's upper legs. In need for additional support due to the lack of balance that the other boy gave him, Ao'nung had to carefully place his hands on the Sully's thighs. He moved his palms to the outer sides to wrap his fingers around them, slightly squeezing into the other's skin.

Almost instantly the boy could feel Neteyam tensing up again, but he didn't show it in any way. Just because of their connected body parts, sharing warmth, and feeling each other's flesh, Ao'nung was able to notice it.

"But that's what you're secretly thinking, right?", the one still standing narrowed his eyes, the bright yellow turning into a deep orange.
"Just leave them alone and go back already".

That was the moment when Neteyam finally let go of the necklace, ready to see the metkayina go away to his own pod again and then peacefully fall back into his sleep.
However, Ao'nung didn't seem to let go of his grip on Neteyam's thighs; it was more like he was digging into them even tighter now. Suddenly, the former omaticaya felt a lot of pressure on his legs, and before he knew it, he was already on the ground with Ao'nung on top of him.
"You're a freak, Neteyam", he shakenly breathed out directly next to his ear, while placing his knee between the other boy's legs.

"And so is your brother. Until I know him fully and his future intentions with my sister, I'll keep that thought in the back of my mind. Do you understand?"

But Ao'nung didn't let Neteyam answer or react to the situation when he quickly got up and left the boy on his own.

Still laying in the same position with eyes wide open, he watched him getting smaller in the distance.

"What..?"
