Near and Mello were playing a board game together, while the Task Force were discussing about Watari and Roger's relationship. Near was paying attention to the conversation and wanted to contribute to it. However, he was too young to understand it as this is only for the Task Force to talk about. Just then the door knocked and Near was going to answer the door and L lifted him out. He told him he'll answer the door itself while he continues playing with Mello. "Fine." He said, going back to the dining room. Looked through the peephole and saw that it was Watari and Roger.

"Come on in, you two. Roger, let me get your bags." L said, allowing the two older gentlemen into the room.

"L, you've grown a lot since the last time I saw you. Still eating sweets, I presume?" Roger laughed as he hugged the 20 year old.

"Yeah, but now they are sugar free." He told him and he laughed some more.

"Very good. You must be Light. I heard lots about you." Roger said to Light as they shook hands with each other.

"Roger, is it true you and Watari are in a relationship?" Matsuda asked him, which L facepalmed, knowing he shouldn't have asked that but was also curious to know too. Everyone in the Task Force was that desperate to know and wanted to get it over with.

"Um...I don't know...I–" Roger stammered, his face getting red and Watari was this way as well. They weren't sure how to answer the question as it was awkward and more so with everyone looking at them.

"I think it's time to tell the truth." Watari said quietly to his lover.

"The answer is yes. We have been dating for many years. In fact, ever since we were very young." Roger told them all, explaining how they've started dating in the early 1960s, which was 1962, which made the older gentlemen 20 at the time. When they started dating, they were forced to keep their relationship a secret as gay marriage wasn't allowed then and still isn't. Except in Canada, but that's another discussion.

"So you all see, we have indeed been together for 45 years." Roger said, holding Watari's hand. No comments were in the room. Mostly just smiles and amazement. Later that same day, L was making croquettes as and Near was helping him. When he's not playing with his toys, as well as brain games and building robots alone, he tends to help out in the kitchen. Which he finds it fun because he feels like he's in a cooking show.

"L, do you know what autism is?" He asked the dark haired 20 year old this, wondering if he was aware of it.

"Yeah. I was reading up on it recently and learning it so I educate myself properly." He told him, making full eye contact with him.

"Well, you see, Roger has been taking me to seeing a psychiatrist about it and she told us that I am on the spectrum, which is why I'm so smart for my age." He explained to him about it.

"I always knew you were autistic. That's why I assumed thought for years you were very different than the rest of the children." He confronted him, smiling at the white haired preteen. Light then showed up and saw them making croquettes.

"These croquettes are looking great." He commented, making L and Near smile at each other in pride and joy.

"Thanks, Light. You'll be the first to try one." L told him, kissing him passionately. Near then left the kitchen and L and Light had a conversation about earlier. Light really was glad the most that L was understanding about Near's recent diagnosis. It really shows his heart is in the right place and he loved him for that too. Everything, in fact. L knew he was the happiest 20 year old to have his boyfriend's heart and knew that he truly will always have him in his life. Even if it means he has to travel for more cases, he knows that he will bring Light with him along because he wants them to be around him at all times. "You want to know something else, Light? I was reading that autism can also be hereditary and I think I might have it too." L noted.

"Yeah, I can see that. Especially the way you fidget and bite. It's pretty noticeable." Light commented and told him that he's still the same guy he's always been, even after all these years and four years of their friendship.

"There are more things, but I agree wholeheartedly." He smiled, chuckling at him with his face blushing more so. During the party, everyone was having fun. So much as so, L smiled more than ever and felt the happiest he's ever been in ages. He checked his trousers pocket and smiled more so than ever. He felt a finger tap him and he got startled, screaming afterwards. "Soichiro and Sachiko, what's up?" He asked them, feeling his heart racing.

"What were you smiling about?" They asked him, wanting to know as he was very happy and smiley more than ever.

"Um, well...how would you two feel if I want to propose to Light? Why did I say that? I'm sorry. I'm so sorry..." He answered, leaving the apartment room with tears down his eyes. He really felt horrible for asking Sachiko and Soichiro for their permission for him to marry Light. But he knew that he should do so before even popping the question.

"What happened to L?" Watari asked, surprised to see him flee like that.

"He just needs to cool down." Soichiro responded to him, placing his hand on his shoulder. He went see L and found him by the 17th door. He was sitting there normally and Watari sat next to him.

"L, are you okay?" The elderly man asked him, watching him all sad and defeated right now. He shook his head no and started crying in his arms. L felt like he was going through the hugest heartbreak he's ever had, even though it isn't.

"Watari, I'm very sorry for everything today and just about for ruining this day. I don't deserve it all." He told him with tears.

"Lawliet, my sweet Lawliet. It's going to be okay. This party was the best idea I've ever thought of, but it's also great because you put your heart and soul into it. Don't cry." He rubbed his back, assuring him that it's alright and everything isn't ruined. L cried harder regardless as this whole day is ruined for him now. He took out the small velvet box and handed it Watari. "What's this? An engagement ring? L, are you proposing to Light?" Watari asked L and he shook his head yes.

"I was going to, but then I thought I should tell Soichiro and Sachiko this. Then, I realized they wouldn't approve of us being engaged so young and I didn't want to be disowned as well as Light. Take the ring and give it to Roger. Maybe he will like it." L said as he slowly got up and left the hallway and went on a elevator to a bakery down the block. They sell sugar free desserts mostly and he's been eating there more so if Watari can't make him his desserts.

"L, wait up—" He said, trying to stop him but it was already too late as he was already in the elevator. Watari looked at the box and closed it afterwards, placing it in his blazer pocket and then headed back to his apartment room. He was worried about L as he was really sad and depressed now. More depressed even. Either way, he will be okay. He knows so because he's the world's greatest detective and he never gives up as one.
