Old Gods

I was in a meeting room with Steve, Bucky, Anthony and Virginia Stark, and Natalie. Who I found out was actually called Natasha Romanoff and was a whole ass spy.

You really can't trust people these days.

I was sitting to the left of Fury, who had a powerpoint pulled up on a big ass screen, not making eye contact with anybody.

"This is Peter Parker Stark," Fury started as he showed a picture of Peter up on the screen, "We currently believe that Hydra is after him, ever since they caused the death of Richard and Mary Parker."

Raising my hand up in the air, I heard Fury sigh, "Yes, Aida?"

"Why is Hydra after the little munchkin?"

"We do not know. However, ten years ago Mary Parker unearthed this book at an archaeological dig she was overseeing." A picture popped up of what was definitely a forbidden book, the cover was faded but I could tell it was written in the Old Tongue.

Fuck, the Realms had missed a book which definitely had the ritual to summon Mh'irthrha in it.

"Three years later, it was stolen as it was being transported to another location and the next year Richard and Mary Parker went missing before their bodies were found in an airplane crash."' Fury continued, "Ever since then multiple attempts have been made to kidnap Peter, though we've been able to prevent all of them up till now."

Damn, poor Peter.

"We've had our supernatural division study the scans of the book we have, however the progress has been slow as it is written in a language unknown up till now. Even our most advanced supernatural experts and consultants have only been able to tell that it is Forbidden Magic and a summoning ritual. Though not much else than that." Fury continued, then he turned to look at me.

After a moment of silence I spoke up, "I feel like you're expecting me to say something, but I'm not sure what."

Pinching the bridge of his nose, Fury asked me, "Can you explain to the room what you told me earlier?"

I quickly sat up and nodded, "Yep, of course. So, I'm actually not a mutant. Instead, I got my powers after I made a deal with an Ancient One when I traveled to the Infinite Realms to rescue the soul of my ex. Long story, doesn't really matter. Anyways, because of that I have some knowledge on Old Magic."

The room stared at me in silence as I grinned. I was getting a pay raise for this, they could stare as much as they want.

Bucky gave me a weird stare, "About that ex-" Fury quickly cut him off and pressed the button to advance a slide.

"What do you know about this, Aida?" He asked and I looked away from Bucky.

It was the picture Fury had shown me earlier, the one of the dark room. It looked like a basement, the walls and ceiling cement and at the center of the room a summoning circle drawn in fresh blood. Sitting in the middle was a heart and in all four cardinal directions of the circle an unlit black candle.

"That is the circle to summon an Old One, specifically an Old God. What they hope to do with them I don't know, though I imagine they believe they can control them because of the restriction wards they added to the circle." I scoffed.

The thought of controlling a being beyond human comprehension was a funny one.

"Will it work?" That was the first thing Natasha had said to me since I saw her walk into the room. Her voice was different than it was when she was Natalie, much more composed and less peppy.

I shook my head, "They are missing key components to summon the Old One."

"What exactly are they missing?" Natasha asked as she stared at me.
