Of Course It's Hydra

So SHIELD agents were total badasses and could totally hold their own. As I watched the various fights throughout the compound I knew that they did not need my help to win. There were not that many Hydra agents left in SHIELD, not after Fury had made it his personal mission to weed them out.

Settling back into my chair, I closed the book and stared at the door. So far there was nobody coming closer, but I knew that would soon change. For some reason they were aiming for Peter, their movements all pointing towards trying to go to Peter's room. It had been the right decision to tell no one about where I was staying for the night.

I had no idea what they wanted with Peter, but I had to give it to them for persistence. However, they were never getting that boy.

As I kept an eye on the door, glancing every so often at the sleeping kids, the room started to shake. Gasping, I ran to the door and stopped right before I opened it. It didn't feel like an earthquake, but there was dust falling from the ceiling. Then the sound of an explosion rang throughout the building.

Closing my eyes, I went back to checking in on the fight and cursed loudly. Those bastards were setting off bombs! I could barely see anything anymore since most of my plants had gotten burned, but as I watched they went into Peter's room, looking around and realizing there was nobody there.

As they ransacked the room a chill went up my spine. I didn't like how I was feeling, as if something horrible was going to happen. A sense of dread coursed through my body, leaving behind an empty and cold feeling.

I wasn't going to let anything happen. Not when we were so close to winning, to finally getting rid of Hydra.Turning quickly, I went over to the bed and shook Peter and Percy awake.

"Aida?" Percy asked as she rubbed her eyes, "What's wrong?"

Peter groaned, but he sat up and looked around as well, "Is daddy back yet?" I shook my head as I petted their hair.

"No, they're not back yet sweetheart. But we need to leave, right now." I tried hard to keep the panic out of my voice, but I'm pretty sure I failed. Peter and Percy both looked up at me with wide eyes, then glanced at each other. Something flashed in their eyes at that moment, as if they had had a whole silent conversation between them,

"Ok." Peter said as he got off the bed and walked over to put on his shoes, "Let's get ready Percy. We need to leave."

Percy nodded and jumped off the bed as well, putting on her shoes right next to Peter. Soon, the two children were looking up at me, their eyes showing a hint of fear. I knew they could hear the screams from the outside, the sound of guns and some distant explosions.

God, they shouldn't have to deal with this. With any of it, they were just kids. Kids with an evil terrorist organization after them, but still just children.

I smiled down at them and gave them their jackets to put on, thinking of how we were going to get out of this. Currently we were below ground level, otherwise I would have just blasted our way out of this. But we would have to get to the elevators and up to the surface. There I could escape from the compound and wait elsewhere till Steve and Bucky came back.

Looking down at the two munchkins wrapped up in fuzzy coats, I knew it was going to be rough. But we had to get out.

Clapping my hands I spoke up, "All right, listen up. There's a big fight going on out there and those Hydra dudes are after Peter. So whatever happens, do not move away from me and stick together."

Percy and Peter shared another look, but then looked back at me and nodded. Watching as they held hands I went to the door and took a deep breath, opening it. Immediately I was hit by the smell of gunpowder and the sound of screams.

Grabbing onto their hands I ran off to the opposite site of the fight. Reaching the end of the hallway I twisted my hand, causing a vine to grow from the wall and had it wind its way around the corner. Sensing there was no one coming I looked down and nodded at the children.

We kept making our way like this, avoiding anybody coming our way. Sometimes we had to double back or hide in a closet, but eventually we made it to the elevator that would take us up to the ground floor.

"Ok, guys. This is it." I told Percy and Peter, "It's probably going to get really scary, but I'll protect you."

"It's okay, Aida," Peter said, "Wade always says I'm very brave. We'll be fine." Of course as soon as he said that an explosion sounded behind me and knocked me to the ground. The sound of a scream rang out and instinctively I pushed my hand out, sending a vine to smack whoever was rushing towards us back.

There were three men in front of us, plus the one that I had thrown against a wall. They were dressed like SHIELD agents, but considering that they had guns pointed towards us I was pretty sure they were Hydra.

"That's the kid," One of the men said, "The one that Leader wants." As he said this, he made his way closer towards Peter. I forced my body to move, to do something and right as I was about to attack Percy stepped forward. Her eyes flashed gold as she threw her hands out, making the three men fly back.

"Wow," Peter said and I had to agree. But there would be a time for that later, right now we had to get out. Grabbing hold of the two again, I pressed the button and cursed every architect that had decided steps were too 'unsafe' for the secret underground facility.

There was something to be said about listening to elevator music while escaping people wanting to kill you. I tapped my feet and tried not to fidget too much as a jazzy tune played. Peter kept pulling at a lost strand from his jacket while Percy just broke strands of her hair apart.

Finally we made it to the main floor and luckily it seemed that it hadn't been attacked yet. With the main doors to the exit in sight, a kid in each hand and that darn catchy jazz music still playing in my mind I rushed towards it.
