Chapter 24 - Karma Time

Irina's Pov:

I was slowly waking up. My hand fell out of the blankets on the bed and my eyes shot open as I realized the other side of the bed was empty. I hurriedly jolted up, looking around the room for Tadaomi, but then I realized that he just went to the headquarters. I sighed in relief as I remembered that. I also remember that he said something to me before going, I don't quite remember what it was, I couldn't make out what he was saying either as I was so sleepy.

I got out of the bed and folded the blankets, before going to the bathroom to freshen up. I came downstairs to see Rhea heating up the breakfast and Aron vacuuming the living room. Rhea looked at me and smiled as I hesitantly walked up to the kitchen.

"Irina mam, have some breakfast and then you have to-"

She was saying as she got cut off by the doorbell. Rhea walked to the door and opened it to reveal Kayano. She came in with a wide grin and put her bag and mobile phone on the table.

"Irina-sensei! How are you?" She asked and I smiled.

"I am...okay..." I said quietly before continuing, "Have some breakfast, I was just going to eat.."

"Don't worry about me, I already had my breakfast-"
Kayano's phone rang on the table, vibrating as it displayed somebody's name.

"Irina-sensei, just a minute..."
She said as she picked up the phone and called out to the person. She had her greetings and after a while her face tensed, as the person on the other side said something.

"O-Okay...I'll be there in sometime..."

She silently said, before looking at me worriedly.

"What h-happened?" I asked and she sighed.

"Sensei...our director...he had a cardiac arrest...he's admitted to the hospital....all the crew is there....I need to go...it's a critical situation...."
Kayano explained everything before picking up her bag and waiting for my reply. I was too shocked to reply, but she nudged me out of it.

"sensei?"

"Yes! of course!...go there as soon as you can...don't worry..."
I said and smiled. She bowed and walked to the door, wearing her shoes and turning back to look at me.

"I'll come back..." She said and I smiled in response.

"hmm...take care.." I said before turning around and going to the kitchen as I watched her leave.
I turned around and walked towards the kitchen. I heard Kayano's Voice at the door as I peeped from the kitchen counter. I saw her talking to Rhea about something, I couldn't hear her properly but I saw them exchanging phone numbers. I smiled and turned back, plating my breakfast and walking to the dining table.

After finishing my breakfast, I was sitting in the living room, reading a magazine, but I soon got bored with it. It's been a couple of hours since I had breakfast, I was feeling a bit dizzy and anxious. Aron had gone for shopping and Rhea was cleaning the kitchen. I thought I should call out to Rhea but she looked busy doing her work. I just shrugged it off thinking that I must be feeling suffocating inside the house. I decided to go to the house garden which was maintained by Aron, It was at the side face of the house connecting to the entrance gate. I opened the door, only to come across a beautiful sight of colorful flowers. I decided to take some coffee while sitting there, so I went to the kitchen and made myself some coffee, as I heard Rhea upstairs doing her work.

I walked over with my cup of coffee to the chair kept in the garden, sitting there and enjoying the view. I was not thinking anything, but...bad memories started coming to my mind making me feel troubled. I tried not to think about it but, instead it made me feel more anxious, to the extent that I was having trouble even calling out to Rhea. I was fear-stricken...and then....

"Karma Akabane?"
Rhea asked to the six feet tall redhead person, wearing a formal attire, a black blazer as he just came from work, standing at the door with a gift box and a small bouquet in his hand. He turned to her and grinned.

"Welcome sir, Kayano-san told me you should come today..."
Rhea said as she politely bowed and welcomed him.

"Yes mam, thank you..." Karma said slightly smiling.

"Is Karasuma-sensei here? I didn't tell him I was coming, but I told Kayano-chan.."
Rhea hesitated a bit, as she tilted her head in confusion.

Does her even know about what happened with Irina mam?
She thought as Karma was not saying anything about her at all, but she shrugged her shoulders as she thought it was not her place to speak.

"He is not here at the moment, but Irina mam is at home..."
She informed and he nodded as a mischievous grin appeared on his face.

"Where is she?" He asked, as his face had a look for an incoming prank.

"She's in the garden, I'll inform her-"

As Rhea said that he suddenly stopped her, telling her to be quiet, clearly indicating he was planning for a prank. 'I can't read this guy at all' She thought as she was having mixed feelings about this.

Karma's Pov:

I followed the house help named Rhea to the garden and then I told her to go away, as Irina-sensei knows me. She gave me a worried look, but slowly walked away.
I recently had some information about everyone coming to see Irina-sensei and Karasuma-sensei, but I was a bit busy with work so I couldn't come, but if everyone is coming it should be something important.

I walked through the door to see Irina-sensei, her back turned towards me.
'Perfect!' I thought as I slowly started walking towards her, wanting to scare her from the back, but as I walked closer I could see her shoulders were trembling. I stopped for a second and cocked an eyebrow in doubt and confusion, but decided to go with my joke anyways. Here goes nothing...

I slowly creeped up behind her and shouted in her ear, only for her to scream and drop the cup of coffee she was holding. The cup broke, but before I could start laughing I saw her starting to cry as she started backing away from. She was looking at me like she was scared of me, a terrified look in her eyes as if she saw a ghost. I was in complete shock as I tried to understand the situation. I slightly raised my hand towards her, but she instantly flinched, putting her hands in front of her face as if to protect herself.

"No! s-sorry...I-I won't do it a-again..."

She whispered as she started muttering apologies to I don't know who.

"S-Sensei?" I asked confused as Rhea came running to the garden.
Before we both could do anything Irina-sensei fainted and I grabbed her just before she could fall to the ground.

"Rhea! Where's her room?"
I asked in a panicked tone as I picked her up, carrying her to the bedroom and laying her down on the bed. I looked at her one last time before going out the room and let Rhea do the rest. I immediately pulled out my mobile phone and called Karasuma-sensei.
I had some questions.
