𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕 said it first.

- matt has always been quite vocal about his feelings, and he isnt embarassed to say something cliché if it means he'll get his point across.

- it was quite cheesy, really: you had just gotten back from a fancy (??) dinner date. you had left early, leaving more than half of your plates full, and forgetting to tip your waiter.

- the car ride home was cheery and, in the very slightest bit, romantic. some sort of tension had been forming between yoh and matt for a few weeks now, and you both were set on getting to the bottom of it.

- matt laid a hand on your back gently and led you up your porch steps, and into your cozy home. you plopped yourselves down on your couch, and you flicked through movies on netflix.

- it was silent. the only noises that could vaguely be heard were the uncomfortable shifting of matt and the faint click of the remote as you skipped past uninteresting TV shows.

- "i love you."

- that was that. he just.. said it. no prior context, no nothing - he kept it short and simple, and impossible to misunderstand.

- you paused for a quick moment before briskly replying;

- "and i, you."

- how 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴: you had been dating for around seven months!

- chris, unlike matt, sometimes forgot that certain things had to be said.

- so, of course, you had to take matters into your own hands: it was sunday. sunday was the day you stayed with chris and his friends ( along with whoever else was there ), not giving a care in the world whether work was emailing you about a raise. you were with your favorite people, that was all that mattered.

- this sunday in particular, though, got you a little too excited.

- it was nearing three in the morning, and everybody was sleeping. you and chris, however, were facing each other, under his bedsheets, giggling about a joke he had just told about a boyfriend you had in highschool.

- "this is why i love you." your voice was laced with just enough satire to make chris question.

- "what?"

- you were about to reject your last statement, push the very thought to the back of your mind, but you didn't. and still, do this day, you don't know what made you reply with;

- "you heard me, lice boy. i love you. so much."

- chris, rather than verbally replying, excitedly pulled you closer for a short kiss on the forehead and a long, drawn-out hug.

- how 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴: you had been dating for a year and a half!

- you were the first long-term relationship nick had been in, so obviously without the prior experience he was a little lost.

- you, however, had zero issue with this at all: nick couldn't sleep. you caught him, staring at his ceiling, wondering.

- "hey." you said.

- "hi."

- "cant sleep?"

- nick wiped his face with his hands and grunted frustratedly. you could tell he had been attempting at sleep and failing miserably.

- "have you tried counting sheep?" you asked, teasingly. he gave you a side eye that made you audibly laugh.

- "stupid bitch." he mumbled, a smile creeping up on his own tired face.

- he rolled over, his back facing you. you scooted a little closer to him, kissing his shoulder lightly and allowing yourself to get comfortable.

- "i love you." you said. nick snored in response.

- how 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴: you had been dating for just over eight months!
