Trigger warning
Peter didn't get out the next week. He was there for three more weeks after he first let Tony see him again. But he was finally home, back at the compound which he was glad about.

It felt a bit weird to Peter though. No nurse checking on him every twenty minutes, no buzzing of the doors, no other teenagers talking, sometimes shouting, all he could hear was the slight noise of the tv from the living room.

But even that was pretty much nothing compared to the tv at the hospital.

And although it was weird to Peter. He liked it. He loved the quiet. He also knew Tony would most likely be checking in on him. The others didn't say anything about it, he didn't know how much they knew.

Obviously they knew he was in hospital. But he wasn't sure if they knew the full reason why. But they seemed happy that he was back again.

Peter had been laying in his room, on his bed since he got back. He was hugging Ned's old bear, his mom brought it in for him one of the times she visited him.

It still smells like him.

That was his favourite part.

Peter didn't know how long he'd been laying there before he heard the footsteps. Though they weren't Tony's causing him to sit up and wait for the knock.

Which soon came. "It's Steve, can I come in?"

"Yeah sure." Peter knew he most likely heard the confusion in his voice.

He held onto Ned's bear he didn't want to let go. The door opened and Steve walked in. He watched as Steve pulled the chair out from under his desk and faced it towards Peter before he sat down.

"So I wanted to apologise for what I said a few weeks ago. I honestly was trying to help I didn't mean to make it worse for you. Tony never said what happened just that you were staying in hospital for a little while and I'm really sorry if that was because of me."

"It wasn't. It's something him and my therapist have wanted since..the shooting. But thanks for saying sorry anyway."

"Are you okay?" He sounded genuine. Like he really cared. That was something Peter hadn't had a lot of, he wasn't good at answering truthfully.

"You really think they would've let me out if I wasn't?" Peter half joked.

"Did they?"

Shit.

Peter wasn't expecting Steve to see though it.

"I don't know."

"Kid I know you don't really know us except your dad but we've all started caring about you. We're all here if you need someone."

Peter tried to smile. "Thank you..Wait did you say dad?"

"Yeah. Tony, he's your dad right?"

"No. Tony's not my...My dads dead."

"I'm really sorry kid," he said giving him a sad look, which was something Peter hated. "If he's not your dad why are you here?"

"He's looking after me while my aunt is away on a work trip."

"That's..weirdly nice of him. How does he know you?"

Peter heard footsteps coming closer to his room, they reminded him of Skip's. Causing him to drop Ned's bear next to him and unfold his legs putting his feet on the ground as he began to panic.

He tried hiding it from Steve. Which he found out didn't work.

"Peter? Are you okay?"

The closer they got the more heavy his breathing got. The more Steve worried about the kid. Peter's mind began replaying the things that Skip Westcott done to him.
