Trigger warning
Peter once again stood in front of the gates to school. Though this time Mj wasn't there, he was waiting for her. He knew he had to go back properly eventually, he knew he couldn't keep skipping like he had been for the last two weeks since he got out of hospital. He ignored the people walking past, whispering about him, about Ned. He looked down at his phone making it look like he was doing something rather than just standing there.
"Parker, hey," Peter heard a familiar voice say, one he hadn't heard in a long time.
He looked up and saw Mark, Peter and Ned had sort of been friends with him in middle school. Only sort of. Though that changed when they moved to high school. He'd also been in juvie for six months though he got out a few months ago.
"Hey it's good to see you man," Peter said putting his phone in his pocket knowing Mark would want to talk.
"I'm really sorry about Ned, he was a really good guy."
"Yeah. He i..he was."
"I also heard you were there. When the cop shot.."
"I really..don't want to talk about that," Peter interrupted.
It was bad enough he had to go back to school, the building it happened, walk through the halls it happened in and pretend and act like everything was fine.
"Shit yeah sorry, I never thought about that."
"It's alright. So..what's up?" Mark pulled out a small bag and handed it to Peter. "This..is weed," he said as he took the bag of joints.
"Yeah. I thought if anyone needed it right now it's you."
"I thought you stopped selling?"
"Oh yeah I did. That's stuff I bought but I don't know I kinda want to stay sober now. Weird right?"
"Not really you were sober for months probably feels weird being high again."
"Yeah that's it. Look I know you don't do drugs but like I said I feel like you might need it right now. Do what you want with it, smoke it, give it away, throw it away. It's up to you man."
"Thank you."
Peter knew this was Mark's way of showing he cared, his way of trying to help, to support him. He knew it wasn't something he was good at. So Peter appreciated what he had done to help.
"Hey loser," he heard a voice shout not far away from the two. He turned and saw Mj walking towards him.
"I'll see you later Pete," Mark said before Mj got to them.
"Yeah bye man."
Mark began walking away as Mj got to Peter. "What was that?"
"We knew either other in middle school, he was just saying sorry about Ned." Though Peter saw her eyes go to the little bag of joints in his hand. "This was his way of saying that," he said showing her properly.
He knew Mj didn't like this. The thought of Peter having drugs, of him getting high. She knew what his sober mind was like that made her worry about what his high mind would be like.
"Just..be careful," she told him causing him to sigh. "You don't want the security guards catching you with that." Though that wasn't why she said it at first it was something she also worried about.
"Oh..yeah. I didn't think about that."
Peter began to put the bag in his jeans pocket as Mj started to walk towards the gates.
