Peter finally got to compound and struggled to climb in through his window. He closed it behind him and changed out his suit before walking out his door.
He hobbled down the stairs and into the living room to see almost everyone but Tony, Natasha and Rhodes.
"Is that blood? What happened?" Sam asked causing everyone to look.
"I uhh..Do you know wh..where Tony is?"
"He's in his lab," Steve said looking at him worried like everyone else in the room.
Peter just limped towards the lab and open the door before walking in. Rhodey and Tony stopped what they were doing and looked up at the same time.
"Oh hey, how was patrol?" Tony asked before noticing his limp. "What happened?"
"I might have..kinda..got shot," Peter mumbled nervously.
"I told you to call me I would've picked you up," Tony said walking over to him.
"Get him up to med bay I'll do what I can," Rhodey said as he stood up.
Peter followed the two up to the med bay, he took his sweatpants off and sat on the bed like he'd been told to do. The two just ignored the old scars that littered his thighs. Which he was glad about.
While Tony got what they needed Rhodey worked on getting the bullet out. After he washed his hands he sat on the stool in front of Peter. He touched Peter thigh without warning causing him to flinch.
Which Tony noticed, he knew it wasn't the pain, he knew that pain didn't really bother Peter. What bothered Tony is that his thoughts were drowning in reasons why he flinched, about what had happened to Peter.
There was one that stuck out, one that Tony hoped so badly wasn't what happened.
"Sorry. Should've warned you, this is gonna hurt kid," Rhodey said softly.
"It's fine," he said with an awkward smile before looking to Tony who just looked at him worried.
Tony sat next to him on the bed, letting Peter lean his head on his shoulder. He held Peter's hand while the bullet was being taken out his leg.
Once the bullet was out Rhodey began to clean the wound. Tony took note of how he didn't flinch when he was told he was about to touch his leg compared to how he did when he wasn't told.
Tony needed to know that he was wrong, that he was just being paranoid but he was so scared that he was right. He knew Peter wouldn't talk to him about it. Peter was too protected to talk about it, too protected to talk about most things in his life.
Once Rhodey had finished cleaning and bandaging his leg the two cleaned everything up before Rhodes left so Peter and Tony could talk. He and Peter both knew Tony wanted to talk.
"So what happened?"
"Can we talk in the morning? I'm really tired."
"Alright. Need help getting up the stairs?"
"Yeah that'll be good," Peter said causing Tony to stand up.
He moved in front of him with his to Peter, "jump on kid."
Peter waited for a minute before moving forward and pulling himself into Tony's back. He held on as Tony began walking toward the door.
