the whole school is gathered into the Great Hall as the teachers sit at the staff table.
McGonagall stands up "today begins your O.W.L exams. a number of ministry instructors are here to give them. exams will take place for the next two weeks. exams will be split in two parts, theory and practical application.....i must warn you that the most stringent anti-cheating spells have been added to your exam papers. no student has successfully cheated on an O.W.L in a century, though every year someone tries....naturally, cheating will not be suffered and anyone caught will be expelled from Hogwarts."
the Slytherins and Gryffindors sat at the top of the Astronomy Tower, at night, may i add, taking our Astronomy exam.
i give a loud yawn as i peer through my telescope looking up at the stars
"tired?" Harry whispers to me
"yeah" i whisper back
we were made to sit house by house. which means one Slytherin in between every Gryffindor. i was between Harry and Seamus.
Harry tilts his telescope downwards and begins watching something.
i tilt my downwards as well trying to see what he was looking at
"that's Umbridge down there!" i whisper
Umbridge along with five other ministry workers begin walking on the Hogwarts grass below.
several other students begin to watch the proceedings taking place.
"they're heading for Hagrid's!" Harry whisper panickly
"eyes back on the sky please!" Professor Tofty says
we chose to ignore her
Umbridge and the five other people approach the hut, silhouetted against the windows of it.
they open the door and it closes
"twenty minutes left on your exam, students." Professor Tofty warns
shadows pace past the windows to Hagrid's hut. raised voices reach them.
then a sharp BANG is heard, along with a flash of blinding light from within the cabin.
the door bursts open, and Hagrid stumbles out, clutching at his waist, followed by Umbridge and the five ministry workers.
"no!" Harry whispers
a red-colored spell simply impacts with Hagrid and bounces off of him.
"be reasonable, Hagrid!" the ministry worker that fired the spell yelled
Hagrid yells something that we couldn't quite hear
Fang, Hagrid's dog, leaps from the open door onto the man, knocking him over. Fang bounds over to Hagrid and leaps in front of him, taking a hex full in the chest and falls to the ground with a whine.
Hagrid roars with rage, seizes the one responsible and hurls him ten feet through the air. the man lands hard and doesn't move.
Professor McGonagall storms through the doors of the Great Hall and out into the night, fury written across her face.
"McGonagall'll sort this out." i whisper to Harry
Professor McGonagall marches towards the scene. her face is illuminated every few moments by the red light of spells being fired. McGonagall breaks into a run
"stop this immediately!" she yells
the firing continues
"ENOUGH!" McGonagall yells once again
she draws her wand in a swift motion. instantly, four of the ministry workers turn to her and fire their spells.
before she can even react, they slam into her. she is briefly illuminated in blood-red light and then is lifted from her feet and hurled backwards about five feet to slam into the ground.
several students scream in tower, while the rest just gape open mouthed
Professor Tofty had given up on trying to get us to pay attention to her so she decided to watch in as well
Hagrid seems to go mad with anger.
"COWARDS!" Hagrid yells
he leaps at the nearest Ministry worker and cracks him across the jaw. the man falls to the ground. Hagrid moves on to the next, and then the next.
"get him! get him!" Umbridge yells
but Hagrid, dodging more stunning spells, hoists Fang onto his shoulders and flees down towards the forest.
everyone takes off running for outside.
once everyone has gathered outside we all go running for McGonagall, who lay unconscious on the ground.
we surround her, several teachers leaning over her. she looks very pale and her eyes are closed. multiple teachers hold the students, keeping them a safe distance away.
"get her to the hospital wing right away" Professor Flitwick commands
Professor Flitwick steps forward and levitates McGonagall into the air, floating her up the steps and into the school, leaving the rest of the students and i shocked and silent in the night.
