Restlessness. That's all I can feel right now. We can't still find Lia because that damn Salazar is really good at hiding.

"Hey sweetie. What's wrong?" I can hear Melanie's sickly sweet voice coming beside me and I mentally sighed and cringed.

I look her way and tried so hard to not scowl at her face and leave her alone.

This girl just can't seem to feel the vibe that I don't want to be disturbed.

Many people thinks that I'm with her again after throwing a huge party to welcome her. They didn't know that I'm just trying to get close to her again because if I don't, hell will break loose.

She's the only daughter of the biggest pack in Asia and to not welcome her means war and as the protector of the royals, we should prevent a war from breaking out. She was expected to be my mate when we were going out in highschool but then, she wasn't.

At my mate's disappearance, again, she came here and we had to be polite and give her a welcome party. We even went to the extent of faking everything we feel just to make Melanie think that we are having a good time with her.

I still remember Riley shouting at both Alyssa and me when we urged him to be a part of our plan.

"No, I will never speak ill of Merlia! I will never do that to her!" Riley shouted furiously while growling and I can swear that it's all too loud that the whole forest might hear it.

"Please dear, do it for me Riles." Alissa purred beside me while reaching his arms to touch Riley's shoulder but stopped when her mate gave her a glare.

I don't really know why they rarely act like they are mates. It seems like Riley doesn't give a damn about Alissa sometimes and it's crazy.

As if reading my thoughts, which I think he did, Riley gave me a smug smile and a more intense glare.

"You really have the guts to say that, huh? I'm Alyssa's mate but that doesn't mean that I have to be head over heels for her when I was given the task to live protecting my cousin and you're both sabotaging it from the very beginning!" Riley said with venom in his voice and I flinched, feeling pang of guilt crash through me.

I know I've done a lot of horrible things to her and she might not forgive me if she knew of those things.

The resounding chants of Salazar clouded the room and all of a sudden it was replaced by memories flashing back through my mind like a movie in fast forward.

Dead. Chosen. Coronation.

After everything, my mind wandered more to an unknown place and I continued to just let it go.

Voices. Familiar voices erupted in my head and consumed all my thoughts. My mind is currently in chaos yet I feel as if, the emptiess inside of me is being filled again...

"Why won't you accept her Kyle?"

"I need her to hate me. She doesn't need a mate who has a scarred past."

"You just need to let her understand, Kyle."

"Let her understand that I had a mate and I ..."

My eyes instantly fluttered open and the voices stop. My eyes are now widely opened but I can't see anything but darkness.

Adjusting my sight, I noticed that I'm in a dimly lit room where I see a girl with messy long chestnut hair tht is covering her slumped body, in the center with what seems like a silver rope tying her around in a wooden chair.
