It had been weeks, a month actually since Naeresys had sent the letter to Jacaerys. Telling him that they were officially betrothed.

When Alicent found out, she was furious. Yelling at Viserys for doing it and not talking to her, and yelling at Naeresys for offering the marriage.

She was so mad that she threatened to marry Aemond and Naeresys together, of course, Viserys quickly put an end to that.

Not only that, but Alicent was so busy announcing that Helaena and Aegon were to be married, just to stop Helaena from marrying one of Rhaenrya's sons.

She forgot about her other daughter, who didn't stop causing trouble. The daughter that was called the Kingdom's dismay and a curse. The daughter that planned behind her back.

The rumours of Naeresys's betroth to Jacaerys quickly spread like wildfire and everyone had a say about it. In the city, people were saying that they were betrothed to make Jacaerys legitimacy seem true. Some were saying that it was to put an end to the curse that Naeresys carried.

Within the month that the letter was sent out, many things happened. Lyenol Strong and his son, Harwin, both died in a tragic fire in Harrenhal.

When the news made its way to the king, things were tense. Viserys needed a king's hand and it was hard to find. The king was getting old and sick and he thought, it was an 'in-the-moment' idea, that Alicent should be the one to choose his hand.

He trusted Alicent to choose the right person, and Alicent did. Only it wasn't good for the Kingdom, it was only good for herself.

Alicent choose her father, Otto Hightower, and though Naeresys had met him, she didn't necessarily like him.

He always seemed to be planning something and the moment Viserys made Otto his hand again, Otto started to change things, well suggesting to change things, most of them Viserys would listen to and go through with.

One of the first things he suggested was to terminate the betrothal of Naeresys and Jacaerys. Of course, this was suggested in a Council meeting, one where Neasresys was spying on like always.

After the meeting had ended, she quickly reminded her father of why the two kids were betrothed. Viserys ended any type of conversation that would imply the termination of the betrothal.

As if things wouldn't get any worse,  the King had received a letter from Daemon, saying that Laena was dead. Burnt by her dragon, Vhagar.
