"NO" Lonokai shouts as he sees Rose go unconscious.
Zoya tears up as she looks at Rose's face. Her heart feels heavy and she doesn't know what to do.
"Let's take her to the hospital" Zach says to Lono in a soft tone.
Lonokai nods and carries Rose into the car. Zach grabs Zoya's hand and walks her all the way to the car as well. Lonokai takes Rose to the back seat and lays Rose onto Zoya's lap. The boys sit in the front and Zach drives off to the hospital as fast as he can. He notices his brother fidgeting with his hands.
"Hey Lono, it's gonna be alright. She'll be okay" Zach says, taking glances at Lonokai.
"I sure hope so. I wouldn't let dad go if something happens to her" Lonokai responds, looking out the window.
Zoya overheard their conversation and lifted her head and looked right into the rearview mirror.
"Lonokai, do you have something to tell me... about Rose?" Zoya questions.
"Yeah, he likes-" Zach says but was immediately shut up from Lonokai's stare.
"No he doesn't. I'm just worried as a friend" Lonokai says hastily and clears his throat.
"Are you boys hiding something from us?" Zoya asks while lifting an eyebrow.
The boys both look at each other and say "no" but Zoya still feels doubt.
When they arrive to the hospital, Lonokai grabs Rose and they all head to the emergency room. Zoya registers all of Rose's information and Rose is taken in to get the bullet surgically removed. Then, the three of them sit in the waiting room. Zach looks over and sees the bruises on Zoya.
"Come on let's go" He says to Zoya.
She looks at him puzzled, "Where? I'm not leaving Rose".
"You need to be checked as well".
"No I don't." Zoya responds stubbornly.
Zach looks at Lonokai for a second and they both nod. Then Zach grabs Zoya by her wrist and carries her across the hospital where normal check ups are.
"LET ME GO" Zoya yells.
Other people glance their direction but Zach assured them nothing was wrong.
Then he turns and smiles at her and pins her to a wall, her back facing him. Someone walks by and he lets go.
"Hey that's Madrid!" Zoya says.
His face hardens, "Who's Madrid? Did you two date or something?"
"What? Of course not, he's just our friend from school. Rose and I knew him for awhile" Zoya responds.
Zoya smiles and waves at Madrid. He smiles back, stares for a second and then waves back. Zach starts fuming behind Zoya at Madrid. As soon as Zoya turns around to look at Zach he starts smiling again. Then Zoya thinks about Rose and her face drops.
"Are you okay?" asks Zach.
"I just want Rose to be okay" she lowers her head.
"I know something that will make you feel better" Zach says while smirking.
"Uh oh, what?"
"A game of hide and seek".
"In the hospital?"
"Sure, why not? What's so wrong with that?"
Zoya chuckles and agrees to play. "Butttt, we have to establish the places that are off limits." She said while closing her eyes and raising her head and eyebrows.
