Chapter XII, The end...? (12)

Ranpo left Kobeni and Aki to deal with Sawatari, and sat himself up at a station.

He boarded a train, because he saw from the news that he was back in on his office, which he wasn't. Someone was playing as him, which is really not an unusual thing.

He slept on the train, and then heard loud banging and commotion above the train. Ranpo unfortunately woke up from his comfortable dream.

Ranpo: I just want to sleep, this is sad.

He ignored as everyone ran screaming from one cart of the train to another, and continued to relax.

"We will now come to an emergency stop. Repeat,"

*THANG*

The metal door that connected two carts of the train was heard breaking, as a certain Chainsaw Devil slid out of it.

Ranpo: Oh, hello, Denji-kun!

The Katana Devil ducked down and prepared for that same slice.

Denji: Oh, hey, Edogawa-kun! And, can't we just ban that move already?

The short detective stands up and tells an innocent bystander who tripped to run.

Ranpo: You should check your surroundings before a fight, you kno-

Katana ducks again, preparing for the exact same move!

Ranpo: That's already old, Katana. You remember what'll happen if I see you do the same move 3 times, right?

Katana: Yeah, on with that Copy Devil. Quit yapping, you two.

He then slices through Denji's left arm and since Ranpo was right behind him and a little on the left, his right hand got chopped off.

Katana: What about it, Denji? Care to apologise to my granddad before you die?

The chainsaw man hybrid stands up with the help of Ranpo.

Denji: I've still got a chainsaw on my head, you know!? And with Ranpo here...

Denji: You'll be a peace of cake!

Katana: Dumbass!

Before anything could happen...

"ZA WARUDO! TOKYO TOMARE!"

......Time has stopped. Ranpo looked around, and shooed his Stand Devil away, before finding out that he didn't need to do what he had done.

He analysed and checked everywhere, before finally understanding what Denji was going to do.

Ranpo: Time has started.

He watched as his predictions played out perfectly.

Katana: Didn't granddad teach you...About how to know when you're beat?

The chainsaws in Denji's head broke.

Katana: Beg for his forgiveness and I'll make it quick.

The katana devil stopped when he saw Ranpo duck down in front of him, and sped right through.

Ranpo: You're already dead because of Denji, but I just wanted to try out your move!

The Katana devil was cut in half. In each half, laid several squares of his body cut up.

Katana: What-...!?

*THUD.*

Denji and Ranpo walked up to the man, who had retransformed back into a normal human.

Ranpo: You really are like Denji, cool!

Denji was only wearing underwear, and so was the man. Ranpo, was wearing a pair of shorts and a jacket.

Ranpo: You both got my clothes dirty, and it costs more than 1.4million yen! I know it's not much, but sti-

Denji: Yup, you're rich. But Edogawa-kun, we have a bit of time before the cops come in to grab you. And, I'm not really satisfied yet.

Ranpo: Really? What're we going to do then?

Man: Not like you two can do anything, you're just Public Safety's lapdogs!

Denji: Hmmmmmm...Oh! We're about to have us a contest!

"A contest?" A cold voice was heard.

Ranpo: A-kun! You're right on time!

Immediately when Aki saw the man, he contacted for backup.

Denji: You wanna get in on this too, right? It's gonna be the best contest ever.

Ranpo: I don't get what it's about, to be honest.

Aki: Yeah, what the hell are you talking about?

Denji: Well, he shot Himeno, so I figured we could take a few shots at him.

Denji: That's while we'll make it a contest. Us three will take turns doing nut shots and whoever gets him to scream the loudest without the cops coming up is the winner.

Ranpo: Heh, I'm experienced. Are you sure you want me to kick it like a football?

Denji smirked and nodded.

Aki just ducked down and buried his face into his arms.

Denji: You in or what?

Aki: Our job is to catch the guy. Not torture him to make us feel better. It's not like Himeno would've wanted that.

Denji: That right?

After a moment of silence, Aki stood up and rolled his sleeves up.

Aki: So, what do I get if I win?

Denji: His family jewels, of course!

Man: Hey...Hang on, hang on! Don't do it, c'mon!

"Can you hear this up in heaven, Himeno? We're playing a requiem for you."

*Ding!*

Man: AAAAAHH!
