"Shiro! Shiro save me!"
"Wha–?"
Lance jumped on Shiro's back before he could turn around to get away from Pidge's grabbing hands. She had said she wanted to do some testing on him but he knew that she'd be poking and prodding and pulling and he didn't want any of that. She stopped in front of Shiro, trying to catch her breath as she glared at Lance.
"Get down!"
"Uh, what is going on," Shiro asked, looking down at Pidge.
"Pidge is trying to dissect me," Lance wailed, clinging tighter to Shiro.
"I am not!" Pidge crossed her arms. "I need to research more about your condition!"
Shiro nodded. "I think it's a good idea."
"Oh!" Lance jumped off Shiro's back. "You're a traitor!"
"Lance..."
"No! No, no, no." Lance took a step back. "Don't Lance me."
He could feel his tail twitch in anxiety. He knew that Pidge wouldn't be exactly gentle with her researching. He didn't want to go through that so he had run away when she brought it up. Who knew what she would do? At that moment Keith had walked into view and Lance jogged to him.
"Keith. Keith, buddy, please tell them it's a bad idea," he pleaded, hands together and ears pinned down and Keith didn't hesitate.
"It's a bad idea."
"Keith, you don't even know what we're talking about," Shiro sighed but he simply shrugged.
"Nope." He turned to Lance. "What's happening?"
"Pidge is trying to dissect me!"
"No I'm not!"
"No she's not!"
"Um."
"All I'm doing is trying to find a pattern," Pidge began. "If I find a pattern or-or something I could maybe find a way to reverse this." She gestured to Lance.
It was silent for a moment; Lance and Pidge just looking at each other. Lance would love nothing more than to reverse what he has turned to but he was afraid of the outcome of Pidge's research. It could come up with an answer and everything would go back to normal or it could go the exact opposite. She doesn't find a cure and it brings even more depression to everyone on the castleship or she finds something hidden about the situation that makes everything worse. He was hesitant to agree but he didn't want them to know the reason why.
"But it'll hurt," he whined to which both Pidge and Keith rolled their eyes.
Shiro hummed in thought. "How about this: you endure whatever Pidge has in store for you and we'll–" he gestured to Keith and himself– "do what it takes to make you feel better. That sound good?"
It sounded great but again he was afraid of the outcome. He knew that all Pidge wanted to do was help but if it didn't go the way they wanted, it could cause more hurt. Lance took a glance at her and saw the slight tug of a frown on her lips and he relented.
"You guys don't have to do that," he said, scratching the back of his head. "Let's just get this over with, I guess."
Pidge led him to the medbay where Coran was waiting patiently. It had taken them a little over an hour for them to collect their data and finish what they needed from him. Like he had predicted, there were a lot of poking and prodding and pulling. They took strands of hair from his head and tail, clipped his nails, took a sample of his saliva, and ended up taking blood– plenty of blood. By the end of it, he was tired and dizzy. They had told him it could take anywhere between one to two weeks for any kind of results.
