Parker had called early on Saturday morning after 2 weeks of radio silence. After 3 days after he left for New York I realized something was seriously up. I wanted to go after him immediately but important business called me away to California. For 2 fucking weeks I felt as if my heart was breaking. Little did I know that losing Parker would absolutely destroy me. Dante had long talks with me every night. He was the calm one in this whole situation. He missed Parker too but he told me he would get to the bottom of it.
Friday night I got a call telling me that Parker and Kennedy had a misunderstanding and he thinks Parker left because he was afraid of how him and I would take it. That made me feel even more like shit. 20 years of friendship and almost 10 years of being in a relationship and he thought because of a woman we would walk away from him.
It put my actions in perspective. I hadn't shown him how much he means to me. And if he did leave it would be my own fault.
Dante told me Kennedy should be with him now because he bought her a plane ticket to NY. If he got a call from Parker he planned of going up and joining and wanted me to come.
"I miss you man." Were the last words he said before ending the call. He never said that to me before. That was the first night I was able to sleep all the way through the night.
At 5 this morning my phone woke me up and it was Parker. I could have cried.
"Fuck Parker. It's so good to hear your voice." I said. He chuckled nervously.
"Hey Andy. Um how are you?"
"I'm ok, how are you, I miss you." I said. He was silent for a second.
"You do?" He said shakily.
"Fuck yeah man. I've been in Cali for the past week and a half taking care of a shitstorm but I'm heading back today." I told him. He was silent for awhile.
"Can you come to NY. Kennedy is here. She knows about us. Dante told her and she came here. I kind of want the day with her but I'd like for you guys to be here with me." He paused. I knew he had more to say so I waited. He sighed deeply. "She feels so perfect for us. But I feel incomplete without the two of you here."
"Run it by her. Make sure she's comfortable with it. Then let me know and I'll change my flight to New York." I said and he let out a breath.
"I'll do that. I love you Andy." Then he hung up. I sat there and processed the whole conversation. In the 10 years we've been in a relationship he's never once said that. My heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest. I had so much work to do to make sure he knew that I felt the same. And that change was going to have to start today.
Two hours later I got a text letting me know to try to come in time for dinner. Parker had booked 3 hours at a spa for him and Kennedy then he was going to take her shopping on the upper east side of New York.
I quickly made the arrangements to leave for NY this afternoon to make it in time for a late dinner. Dante was doing the same. I took a trip to the Gucci store to pick up a watch for Parker I had my eye on. After Dante confirmed he didn't have it in his crazy watch collection. It was hard to get Parker gifts because he always got himself what he wanted yet he was simple asides from his love of watches. It was a Gucci Dive watch. It was black with gold and had a gold snake going through the middle.
