i figured that instead of going to calums house for the weekend, as i almost always did, i would go to my house.

i wasn't in any rush to get there once school got out, so i took my time walking home.

sadly, i got there faster than i would've liked to.

"anyone home?" i asked, stepping inside and shutting the front door behind me.

"michael?"

"yeah, mom," i replied.

she stepped out of the kitchen, into the front hallway, with dishtowel in her hand, "hey honey, how was school?"

i decided not to mention the whole katie incident, "it was boring."

"it's good to see you home," she smiled. "you're normally at calums all the time."

"i know, mom, i just figured i'd pay you a visit," i laughed.

she rolled her eyes at that remark, "it's a shame you picked tonight to make an appearance, i have to go into work at 7!"

"it's fine," i replied, and it honestly was. i planned to sleep and eat all night anyways.

mom was a nurse, so she was always getting called into work at odd hours. which is why i was never really home.

"are you sure?" she asked.

"yes," i replied.

"okay, honey, i was thinking pizza for dinner?"

"sounds good," i said, turning around and walking up the stairs to my bedroom.

i threw my backpack onto the floor, and threw myself back on the bed.

i figured i may as well sleep for an hour or two.

and with that i closed my eyes, and drifted off.
