"so then, he got up to walk away, right? and just fell, right onto his face!" calum finished, laughing as if his story was the funniest thing ever, when it honestly wasn't funny at all.
my mom laughed, quietly, shaking her head, "now how did he manage that?!"
in a way, i was sort of glad my mom was paying attention to calum. i mean, he didn't really get along with his own family all that well, so me and my mom were the closest thing he had. he would never admit it, but he enjoyed being around the whole family atmosphere again and i knew my mom was happy she could help.
i picked up my piece of toast, taking another bite, while him and my mom talked to each other about god knows what.
a chime from the front door caught my attention, i looked up to see who it was. not because i was nosey but because me, mom, and cal were like the only ones here.
"well, well, well! fancy meeting you here!" i heard a familiar voice exclaim. i looked up and saw ashton, and taylor, walking towards the tables.
"hey ash!" calum greeted him, "oh, hey taylor!"
"hey calum," she said, with a quick wave.
"what are you doing here?" ashton asked.
"it's a small town, bro, there's not many places to go," i laughed.
"here guys, sit," calum ordered, pointing to the few empty chairs at our table.
"oh, we wouldn't want to bother you-" taylor started, but before she could even finish ashton had already sat down and started looking at the menu.
"it's no problem, hun," my mom laughed.
