14. Ex Lover

When did we get so lost inside ourselves?
We used to be strong, but now it's like we don't care
Instead we're calling out for help

"

Did somebody break your heart?"

  She froze at those words as flashbacks zapped rapidly through her mind, memories she buried deep inside spilling out, filling her with sadness. She turned to him with a blank face as he moved towards her, his face tear stained but still breathtaking. Her gut twisted in guilt as he looked at her with love pooling in his eyes.

'How can he still love me?'

I don't know, but I guess he loves you for you. No matter what you do. If you leave him, he'll die inside. So don't. Please.

'He asked a question. I really don't wand to answer.'

He deserves an answer.

'I guess.'

"Yes. Somebody broke my heart."

  Hus eyes softened. "Seojoon?"

"Hmm."

"I'm sorry. I swear I never knew it was you until-"

"-A day before our anniversary, I know."

  He opened his mouth to say something but she beat him to it. "You asked a question. Let me answer it."

  He nodded. She continued. "It was five years ago. I was 19 at that time. Seojoon and I had been
dating for 4 years. We were happy. I really thought he was the one. I was the kind of person who wanted just one person in my life as my one and only. But I guess I was wrong."

  She sat on the floor and he followed her. "I really don't know how it started. All I knew was that he suddenly started acting weird. He stopped coming home. He stopped talking to me. He never wanted to do anything with me anymore. I was so confused, I didn't what I did. I tried talking to him but he ignored me completely. It dragged on for months until I decided that he would talk to me, whether he liked it or not."

  She took a deep breath. "He worked at a cyber cafe. Not those small ones, the ones big enough to be mistaken for high tech company. He was self made rich. He learnt computing at a young age and started a business when he was older. He took a loan from me to build it and paid me back with triple interest  when he made profit,  even when I rejected it. I went to his office that day, and what I found out broke me. Someone was feeding him lies about me cheating. With video proof that was edited. I thought as a computer genius, he'd know it was fake, but he didn't. And he resented me for nothing. So I broke up with him before he could." She smirked. "I am Kim Joohyun. And I could never let that ignorant idiot bring me down."

  Taehyung frowned. "Why are you mad at us then?"

  At that she glared at him. "Only Jungkook could edit something so good. Even if Seojoon was good, he is an amateur where Jungkook and I stand. And I knew that you guys were friends with Seojoon, and that you hated me for taking him away from you. So when you saw me constantly hanging out with Sun-oh, you set me up. You were the one who tripped me with that skateboard at the park that made me fall on him and sprain my ankle. We didn't even kiss. And since Sun-oh took me to the hospital where I stayed for a few days because I had a compound fracture, you took my absence to make it seem that I went somewhere with Sun-oh and I was cheating on him. And of course he believed you guys. Even my so called friends betrayed me. One of them fed him lies even though they were the ones who insisted I hang out with Sun-oh, as Seojoon started ignoring me. They all had crush on him, and were crushed when we hit it off. So you guys worked together to wreck me and it worked." She gritted her teeth. "I ran crazy when he was making out with my friend infront of me. I was in asylum for 2 years." She chuckled bitterly. "The guy I was crazily in love with was having fun with those who betrayed me. I got out eventually and found out the truth. I was set for revenge, so I let it go because you guys weren't complete. When I enrolled into KZA, I found my chance. At first, it was Jungkook and Jimin, then it was Jin and Namjoon, sooner thab than later Hoseok and Yoongi showed up, and lastly you. I had to gain your trust first but then I found you liked me so, I used it to my advantage. I was planning on pretending to love you then break your heart, since you were the mastermind behind the plan, but unfortunately, I fell in love with you." His eyes softened as he saw her honest expression. "When I realized that, I decided to give up, thinking that since you loved you'd tell me, even if you didn't know it was me. Then I would have told you who it was and tell you that I forgave you. But you never did." She glared at him. "You ruined my life and made my friends betray me. Jennie was the one who kissed him. She took advantage of his breakdown. I was disgusted. Time and time again, I couldn't believe that people as sweet as you guys would do something like that. When I saw that you would never tell me, I decided to start my revenge. I made sure Jennie would never get called into the numerous modeling  agencies she auditioned for. That Lisa sprained her leg so she would miss the dance audition that would gotten her a good agency. I ruined Jisoo acting career as she was such a good actress by giving her a bad review. Chaeyoung got a sore throat and ruined her own audition. I wanted to give her Tuberculosis, since she was the blabbermouth, but I decided against since I couldn't get the pill. Unfortunately." She shrugged nonchalantly.

  His face was stunned at her words. "Namjoon and Yoongi's mixtapes got deleted as they were the ones who made the audio for that video. Hoseok and Jimin couldn't make it in time for the audition as they were locked up in the house with the power cut. It was fun tormenting them,  since they were ones who made sure I was locked up in that asylum. Jin was was rejected from the modeling agencies since he put the thought in Seojoon's head that I was into pretty boys and I was tired of him so I ran to Sun-oh. He called me a slut. Jungkook got bad reviews for his photography course, courtesy of me, and overworked himself into exhaustion since he made that video." She grinned sadistically, looking at his sad face. "They didn't tell you? That was why they were ashamed to look themselves in the eyes when Chaeyoung told them what she saw. Seojoon found out eventually and lost his mind and almost lost his business as he neglected it. And you, my love."
She smirked. "Got the most worst punishment of all, as you started this, falling in love with me. You know the rest."

  At that, a sob rang out. It wasn't from Taehyung, but from Jennie. Taehyung turned as saw all of them standing a few feet from them, while Joohyun kept the smug smile on her face as she stood as looked at them. "This, is revenge for me and Sun-oh, who died because of you. I guess it helped that you guys couldn't recognize me, as I had my hair dyed platinum blonde, and was wearing masks and dark clothing all the time. I was a famous model and actress, do I had to cover up. His best friend no longer wanted anything to do with him and Seojoon was his only family. U wouldn't have gone as far as ruining your careers but you made someone killed himself because his best friend emotionally tortured him to death. So, this is your karma."

  Jisoo choked on a sob, tears streaming down her face. Joohyun sneered at her. "You'll live, don't worry. Nothing lasts forever. This is just karma. I got mine for blindly trusting people like you. Have a good day."

  With that, she walked to the door. As she was about to walk out, a quiet voice stopped her.

"Why?"

   She smirked, walking out. Her smug words filling the air with dread.

"I am Kim Joohyun. And I won't let anyone take advantage of me. I strike when you least expect it. Call me Karma."
