"WHAT?" Beomgyu stepped hard on the brakes and looked over at her.
"I- maybe we are too young, but I was serious, look!" Ha-ri defended herself, as she took a black box from her small bag.
Opening it, there was indeed a silver ring shining in the darkness of the car.
"Ha-ri!" Beomgyu exclaimed shocked, more like giving himself time to process the expensive jewellery. Where did she even find the money to buy that? Of course, she was too young for that!
The girl sighed loudly and closed the box again with a clap "Urgh forget it. Just drive us home. You're blocking the street anyway"
"Oh shit, right" he mumbled and pressed the gas pedal again.
A few days later
"Hey" Taehyun greeted, as he sat next to Beomgyu in history class. "Hey" the boy greeted back, as he was taking out his notebook with other stuff, before the lecture could start.
"Did you see that Mr. Park graded our history exam from last week already?"
"Oh really?"
Taehyun nodded. Beomgyu then quickly unlocked his phone to enter the school's app to access all of his graded exams. As soon as a professor would a grade their exam, their grade would be uploaded there.
"What did you get?" Taehyun asked curiously after a while.
Beomgyu sighed before answering "C. Expected better"
Taehyung stroked through Beomgyu's back, knowing his friend actually studied for it. "And you?" Beomgyu asked.
"I got a B+" at that he smiles slightly.
"Ohh"
"Maybe you should take tutoring lessons with Yeonjun? Since y'all are already group partners"
The boy tsked and shook his head heavily. "Forget that" Taehyun frowned and rolled his eyes.
"Oh come on, why not"
"Just because. And a part of that" he whispered, since the professor entered the class at that moment, "you just want his number"
Taehyun slightly blushed and hit Beomguys shoulder. "Ya! It's about you, not me"
"Whatever" he mumbled.
The first lesson was over, and now another lesson had to be attended before Beomgyu could head home. It was now time for their group project, so Beomgyu moved his eyes through the class, to look for his partner.
"Where-"
"Uhm Hi" A voice made Beomgyu shriek. He turned back around and in front of him was the person he was originally looking for.
"Oh Yeonjun" Beomgyu blurted and he started to collect his stuff.
Next to him was a squirming Taehyun trying to not lose his shit. He asked himself how Beomgyu could not lose his cool just then and there.
"Oh wait I wanted to give this to you"
In the elder's hands, there was an empty lunch box.
"Your mom made this for me...thank her on my behalf of me" he added silently.
Beomgyu nodded and stuffed the box in his bag. This means he hasn't talked to her since then, Beomgyu thought to himself.
They both then made silently their way to one of the empty desks in the school's library. As always, Beomgyu sat down across the other with his notebook and Yeonjun with his phone.
After time passed more slowly than ever, Beomgyu got sick of that awkward atmosphere.
"What did you get on the history exam?" he broke the silence and looked up at the black-haired boy.
"A+"
Beomgyu's mouth fell open "No, you're lying"
Yeonjun shook his head. Then he placed his phone across from him.
"No way" Beomgyu commented, as he read the grade from Yeonjun's screen. A+ with 95 points.
Yeonjun shared a pressed smile as Beomgyu let himself fall on the chair. This dude was really an ace in school.
"How long did you study for that then?"
"I didn't"
Beomgyu's eyes grew bigger "Y-you don't study at all?" Yeonjun nodded.
"Literally fuck you" he then marked. He was just a tiny bit jealous; he didn't understand why he didn't get this ability too.
"Did you finish writing the thesis?" The dark-haired boy asked a bit tense after a while, which made Beomgyu look up surprised. Yeonjun actually wanted to leave this place as soon as possible, he wouldn't have helped that guy anyways, not even an ounce.
"Yeah, I'm just gonna read it through the last time, then you can edit the layout and stuff"
"Kay"
While Yeonjun's gaze moved back to his phone, the younger continued to stare at him. Well, his visuals were too perfect, his grades were perfect aswell and he got raised in a well-off family...Could anything be wrong with him? No one could live a perfect life, there had to be something.
"Have you talked to Ha-ri? She looked pretty down the last few days"
Yeonjun's gaze moved back to his eyes and gulped. "N-no"
"She told me, dude. What a coward you are to bust your head in the sand"
Beomgyu wasn't on his sister's side, but pretending to, gave him a reason more to hate Yeonjun.
"I just...I saw the box that day and I panicked. I mean, I haven't even told my parents about her or we didn't make any plans?"
Well, Beomgyu didn't expect him to tell him directly everything.
"You know what, maybe it's a sign y'all should break up" he answered smiley. Maybe this incident could pre-pone his happiness.
Yeonjun rolled his eyes "I almost wondered why you would care for your sister" he said, while he stood up and pushed the stool against the table "do you want to be replaced by her or what?"
Beomgyu's eyes widened "W-what? No! What are you thinking of?" he laughed sarcastically at the last part. Yeonjun shouldn't get him wrong, he didn't want him, he just didn't want to get compared to that couple anymore.
Yeonjun scoffed and leaned forward to be face-to-face with Beomgyu "Many tried to play your game, Gyu. Don't forget that Girls and Boys want me. Just mind your business, Choi Beomgyu"
With that, he left the table and Beomgyu alone. The boy would lie if he said he didn't feel a shiver run through his spine.
