I sat awake that night. I had gotten what I wanted, I was left alone until morning. When morning would be, I didn't know. The same room I sat in was pitch black, all of the bright lights had suddenly turned off at some point. I had curled myself into a ball under the table, the only form of light came faintly from my markings. They dimly shone a pale purple in which the tiles on the floor reflected. I stared at the reflections, tears in my eyes. I wanted to go home, I wanted to be back with my family. I missed them. I missed Kiri and Tuk, my brothers, my parents. Tears started to slide down my cheek and I tilted my head to wipe them off with my arm. Don't think that way. I would see them again. I knew I would. I would...wouldn't I?

I woke up to the bright lights being turned back on and the sounds of footsteps entering the room. I opened my eyes to see several sky people standing in front of me, showing me to the door. I stared at them while standing up. "I can leave?" I was about to start jumping off the walls I couldn't believe it. The sky people must have noticed my excitement and one of them hesitantly opened their mouth. "Yes..leave the room. For your vitals." I scrunched my nose and tilted my head. "What are vitals?"

"Hold her down!" one of them shouted to the others. I screamed, trying to break my hands free from the chair I was strapped in. "What are you doing?" I cried, watching one of the sky people open a cabinet and take out a bunch of weird-looking objects. "Here," he said as he grabbed one of them. "This lets me check your blood pressure. It doesn't hurt, see?" He put it around his arm and then slowly walked over to wrap it around mine. "You're going to start feeling some pressure now, okay?" I looked at the weird thing squeezing my arm. "Just think of it as a bracelet," one of the female sky people said, putting her hand on top of mine and smiling. I gave her a little smile back then looked back at my arm. "All done," the man said, pulling it off. I looked back at the woman and gave her a big smile. "Now we're just going to take your blood." "WHAT?"

I squeezed my eyes shut as the one of the lab people took my blood in several vials and then rushed out of the room with them. I then heard a second pair of footsteps coming back, stepping into the room. "May I steal her from you, doctor?" I heard a voice ask. I recognized that accent, Miles was here. I opened my eyes to see him standing in the doorway, looking down at me with a bored expression. As soon as our eyes met he moved his stare back towards the doctor's. "Yes sir, she did just fine." I saw Miles nod, then he motioned for me to come with him.
