CHAPTER TEN

I wake up with the biggest smile on my face.

My heart swells as I jump up from my bed, throwing the curtains open wide. I don't think I've ever been so happy.

Turning on the radio, I dance around the room to whatever song begins playing first. I'm not even paying attention. I dress in a pair of black skinny jeans and a khaki green shirt, throwing my clothes on quickly and styling my hair.

What happened last night. . . well, I don't even have words for it.

When I kissed her, my while body exploded. It was like nothing I'd ever felt before. I felt this surge, like a flame coursing through my body - I felt empowered. I still do.

I grab my phone off the table and see that I have a text from three hours ago.

morning, sleepyhead, Jamie types, by the time you read this i'll be out. the veterinary practice had an emergency callout so I headed out to help. mind if i come over after? x

I frown at the screen. After all the excitement of last night, I failed to actually ask her where this leaves us.

But then I smile. She wants to come over. . . that has to be good, right?

of course. :) x

No texts come back so I walk out into the living room, looking around the empty flat. Craig probably went out with Kirsty and Monday's usually the day that Barry visits his parents.

I have a few hours until Jamie will presumably come over, so I decide to go for a walk in town and see if I can find anything for dinner.

Thoughts whirl around my head as I enter the busy streets of Glasgow, pulling my parka tighter round me to protect me from the biting wind. I wonder how Jamie feels about the kiss. Does she regret it? Did she like it? Are we a thing now?

Just as I'm getting to the good part, I hear my name being called out, then an, " Excuse me?"

I turn my head up and see two teenage girls coming my way, one of which looks much more excited than the other, and a boy, who looks thoroughly bored with the situation.

" Excuse me, are you Sam McTrusty?" the slightly more excited girl asks with a lovely Scottish accent.

I flash her a charming smile. " Yeah."

" Oh my God, I love your band!" she exclaims, a twinkle of excitement in her eye.

" Thank you!" I grin. " What's your name?"

" I'm Aliyah," she says excitedly, before pointing to her friends, " and that's Joan and Ben."

I wave to them quickly.

" Can I please get a photo?" she asks. I nod.

Her friends take a few photos of us together, and then I give her a quick hug and kiss on the cheek before we go our separate ways. I smile to myself as I walk towards a flower shop on the other side of the road. My fans can be brilliant sometimes.

Although, sometimes it does make me uncomfortable, especially went teenage girls act all 'fan-girl-y' around me.

The woman in the flower shop gives me a knowing smile as I pay for a single red rose. " Is this for your girlfriend, then, son?"

I laugh, ruffling my hair. " Actually, I don't quite know what exactly she is."

The fair haired woman laughs slightly. " Well, girls like a gentleman. Remember that."

I leave the shop shortly after that, wrapping the rose in one of the flower holders carefully.

When I arrive home, I have purchased some ingredients for dinner. I begin by setting up the table, placing a candle in the centre of it, and then I start the dinner.

It's not very romantic, but I'm making Chicken Fajita's, because I know they're her all time favourite.

Just as I'm placing the wraps in the oven to crisp up, my phone pings. I run over it and snatch it up, reading the text from her.

on the way. x

I smile and text back.

Okay, I'll be ready. x

I wait on the couch for as long as ten minutes when the doorbell rings. Quickly, I run to the door and see Jamie. She is dressed in a loose fitting, black dress that comes to her knees and a sun hat, when her hair in its natural state.

" Didn't you say you were on a call out?" I say with a gasp.

She laughs. " Hello to you, too, Mr McTrusty."

" It's Sam," I smirk.

She shakes her head at me. " Well, as for my appearance, there is such a thing as getting changed in a car." I laugh as she waggles a plastic bag in her broken arm, filled with overalls.

I lean in and hug her tightly, kidding her cheek. She holds me for a moment, wrapping her arms around my neck, before releasing me and stepping inside.

When she sees the table, she smiles. " Orrrrr, Sam, you didn't have to!"

I laugh. " Well, I wanted to."

She spins around on her heel and smiles at me, placing her plastic bag on the coat hanger. I smile back her and gesture to the couch.

" Make yourself at home."

Jamie nods and begins to walk to the couch, but not before giving me a quick peck on the cheek.

Cheeks red, I make my way back over to the kitchen and add the spaghetti to the sauce.

" How was work?" I call through, stirring dinner.

" It was pretty good!" she calls back. " Turned out the old girl was in labour! She delivered a healthy foal!"

I find myself smiling. " That's good."

I dish up the meal on two plates and walk back through, finding Jamie already at the table. I place the food on the table and she smiles at me.

When I go back to get the wine, I place the rose between my teeth and walk back through.

I give a little bow. " For you, Madame," I say through the flower.

Jamie laughs and excepts the flower, blushing slightly. I grin cheekily at her and place down the wine.

" And," I say, sitting down, " dinner is served."
