"Dorothy, are you going to ignore someone who has helped you before?"
Credence stood still in front of her.
Her delicate neck was suddenly grabbed by his cold hands. As he exerted a great amount of force on her, his varicose veins began to pop out on his skin, and she was suffused by a dark and dangerous aura.
"I, ahem... I didn't mean that."
Her slender neck was grabbed tightly between the man's slender and cold fingers. She found it hard to breathe. Due to lack of oxygen, an abnormal blush appeared on her pale face.
"You didn't mean that? Then, just now, were you joking about us getting a divorce?"
He continued coldly, "Dorothy Fisher, if you don't listen to
me, you'll have to pay the price!"
After that, Credence's hand slid down from her neck and landed on her plump chest. Dorothy's pale face, which was seemingly calm, finally showed some awkwardness. Recalling how he had humiliated her, she pushed his hands away immediately to object in a silent but determined way.
"Credence, we're outside. There are a lot of people passing by. Don't be rash."
His lips curled into a cold simper as he sneered coldly. "I think I am treating you like how a husband would treat his wife in a legal marriage. I don't think I'm wrong."
"W-w-what are you going to do?" Dorothy stammered.
Dorothy's face had panic and fear written on it. She could feel his hands sliding from her abdomen to her thigh. In adaze, he started tickling the skin underneath her dress. Despite knowing that he was deliberately doing this to humiliate her, her mind couldn't help but succumb to her truest feelings. Syncing with the motions of his playful fingers, a series of moans escaped her quivering lips.
Credence noticed that her body was shuddering under his touch. He lifted his thin lips and smiled indifferently. "I've always respected women and am gentle towards them. However, Dorothy, with everything you have done, you don't deserve my respect."
At that moment, Dorothy could feel the heat igniting in her body from the skillful flicks of his fingers. However, her sensible self knew that she was being humiliated by his cold insults. It was as if half of her body was burning with fire, and the other half was in the cold sea. Every second was a painful torment to her.
In his eyes, a slipshod lady such as her was not even worth as much as a prostitute.
"Whoosh!"
A few minutes later, Dorothy finally couldn't bear the torment and sorrow anymore. She chuckled lightly until tears started welling up in her eyes, "Credence, what exactly do you want me to do? Please... just say it!"
Upon hearing this, Credence's cold and stern body paused for a moment. He held her breasts in his hands and suddenly tightened his grip. Dorothy frowned in pain. However, she bit her lower lip and held back a scream of pain.
Why should she show her weakness in front of him?
A man who did not love her would never sympathize with her at all. She should not bring disgrace upon herself.
Just as Dorothy thought that Credence was going to do something to her in the corner under the tree, her body lost its balance suddenly and she fell backward onto the ground.
Credence's words, which were cold and cruel as if they had been quenched with ice and could freeze Dorothy's blood, resonated in her ears.
He told her, "Dorothy, indeed, I'm only interested in your body. However, you'd better remember, men can differentiate between love and sex clearly. I'd never love you!"
He continued, "Dorothy, Rosalie was lucky enough to be saved. Since you're not happy staying with me, I will let you go now so that you can be with Juelz!"
"Dorothy, the day after we get divorced will be the day I marry Rosalie!"
He glanced down at Dorothy, who was sitting on the ground.
There was no warmth in his cold and narrow eyes.
Dorothy closed her eyes and she could feel the anguish inside of her. The sun was blazing hot. However, she was shivering with cold.
She raised her head slowly and stared at his figure as he left. She said in a soft but firm tone, "Credence, falling in love with you is what I regret the most in my life!"
Her voice was soft, as if she was whispering in a dream. However, Credence could hear her clearly, even though he had walked dozens of feet away. He paused for a while and then turned around to take a sarcastic glance at Dorothy. After that, he left without any hesitation.
This time, he had truly walked out of her world.
Dorothy raised her head slightly and stared at the cloudlesssky. The bright sunlight stunned her eyes, causing her tears to stream down her cheeks slowly.
During their four-year marriage, Credence had not treated her with warmth and care. The times he did were so few that she could even count them with one hand.
She was not happy staying with him. She had suffered for four years, which was a long period of time.
Fortunately, everything was over that day!
In the following days, Dorothy did not see Credence in the villa again.
That day, Maria entered the guest room to serve Dorothy her breakfast. She looked extremely anxious and angry. She faltered. "Mr. Scott sends flowers to Rosalie in the hospital every day. He'll have three meals with her every day and even spend his nights accompanying her in the hospital. Mrs. Scott, if it goes on like this, your status will be threatened!"
Dorothy sat up to have her breakfast while enduring her headache. After listening to Maria's words, Dorothy could feel a surge of warmth in her heart. She said in a hoarse voice, "Maria, I had been trying hard for four years, but I still failed to make him fall in love with me. It's because of my lack of charisma. It has nothing to do with him!
You don't have to tell me about him and Rosalie in the future."
She had to pretend to be deaf, dumb, blind, and crippled every day so that her heart wouldn't hurt that much.
When it came to it, she had to thank Credence for not confiscating this villa. At least, he had provided her a place to stay, even if that was the only benefit he had given her.
At least, he didn't force her into a dead end.
Recently, after learning that Dorothy and Credence had a quarrel and had broken up, Juelz and Germaine would video-call Dorothy every night to help her ease the pain of losing her marriage and her husband.
Perhaps Credence was forgetful, or he had other reasons. He didn't tell the Sherman family that Germaine had returned from Monticello.
Germaine had not managed to see Jeremy. Other than that, her life was rather carefree.
In the end, Germaine proposed to celebrate Dorothy's divorce at a bar with the gang after Juelz recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
In a corner of the bar.
Germaine put her arms around Dorothy, who was drinking beer as if she was drinking water. She could feel the discomfort as Dorothy did.
"Girl, that's enough. Stop drinking! What's so great about Credence? He looks like a snob! Open your eyes and look carefully. There are lots of men in this world. You can pick anyone you please.
You've lost Credence, but you are getting more options! Girl, just have fun!"
Dorothy put down her wineglass and laid her head on the bar tab listlessly. Her eyes couldn't help but redden. She said, "Germaine, I've always known that he was heartless, but I didn't expect him to be so cruel to me. Do you know what he said? He said that he will marry Rosalie the day after we get a divorce! I've tried so hard these four years, but I ended up like this. Why is he so cruel to me?"
