28. WRATH OF A KIM

“How are you late again? Your room is on the East wing, means the sun hits there first!”, Taehyung complains while brushing his Cleopatra.

Yes, it’s already been five days of Jungkook living in the palace; regardless he is late every day.

Taehyung sighs and turns around to boy scratching his head and slightly pouting? Taehyung raises an eyebrow.

“Our horseman here has been saying how good you are with Melody..”, Taehyung softly says and smirks as the possible pout becomes a proud smile.

“So.. why don’t you give me demonstration?”, Taehyung asks again and notices the light in Jungkook’s eyes.

Jungkook nods and moves towards Melody. He lightly touches her mane before ascending her. The horse by now has already known Jungkook, so she doesn’t protest the idea to give him a ride. Jungkook proudly shows the King his fast learning skills, how well he handles the horse. He starts to ride the horse in a circle with a limited pace. 

Taehyung watches the boy ride happily, controlling the saddle with perfection. But, yes but, then it happens.

A light passes like a shooting star, almost hitting Melody on her track. The white horse gets scared of the unknown intrusion of her path. She throws her first two legs up, jerking her entire body as she almost stands up from the potential threat. Scared, she turns around to the opposite, and runs for her life, completely off track.

Everything happens in a flash before Taehyung. Almost whole four seconds his brain took to process the entire scenes he witnessed just in front of him, before he screams to his loudest, “CLOSEEE THEE GATEEESSSSS”.

Well, yeah, turns out Melody was indeed quite smart! She knows the ways in and out from the palace as she frequently does whenever any royal goes out. Sensing danger  inside the palace, the smart horse instinctively chooses to run towards the exit.  But, as smart as she is, she is also scared; and Taehyung knows that.

“CLOSE THE GATEEESSS”, He shouts again as he jumps on Cleopatra and follows the trail.

Jungkook after his initial shock, latches himself to the horse he is on, but no longer riding. He tries to take back the control, but fails as the horse has completely freaked out and Jungkook is clearly not that expert yet to calm her down. Therefore he just hugs the horse to his might as something inside him tells that if he falls from the running horse, it will hurt.

Melody has almost reached the main gates when Taehyung spots them.

“CLOOSE THAT GATEEESSSSSS…CLOOOOOOSEEEE ITTTTTTT”, He shouts again, almost annoyed of his guards.

‘Can’t they hear me?! Why aren’t they closing the damn gate?!’, a part of Taehyung’s brain questions.

Melody hooves towards the gates as there’s no sign of anyone closing it or even coming forward to stop the horse. She springs out of the palace ground, aimlessly running to the hilly roads, downwards.

“Holy SHII”, Taehyung almost curses before speeding up.

Jungkook can feel uneven path way under him with the every jerking he feels in his body. He doesn’t even dare to open his eyes, his only hope is that the horse calms herself down soon, and just doesn’t decide to jump of a cliff or something along with him on her back. He feels little stings on his body every now and then, but is too scared to investigate upon it. Sharp wind whistles in his ears, almost screaming. His heartbeat raises as it mixes itself with the thumping of the senseless hooves.

“Faster Petra!!”, Taehyung commands his horse, “We have to save them”.

Jungkook feels his body being lighten up with every passing moment. His knuckles are already white as dead. He feels a sudden rush of fear when he feels his grip over the reins being loosen slowly. He prepares himself from any kind of misfortune about to happen.
