19. The Saviour

“WHAT?!!”, Jungkook looks at Soyeon in disbelief, “ What have you done?!! Do.. do you even understand what you are saying??…. I..I.. I can’t be.. can’t be.. your nephew..!! What about Somi?? I..I amm.. n..not… oh god… what the hell is happening in my life?!!... I just want to wake up.. please god…please please… just make me wake up and tell me I was dreaming all along… I… I don’t belong here…. Please… Just wanna go back home…”, Jungkook’s rant becomes more and more uncontrollable as if he is losing his own trail of thoughts.

“Jungkook? Jungkook?? JEON JUNGKOOK??!!”, Soyeon finally shouts at the boy to pull him out of his shock, “ YOU ARE NOT DREAMING!! THIS IS REAL! THIS IS VERY MUCH REAL!! AND I KNOW THAT RIGHT NOW IT’S REALLY REALLY CONFUSING AND SCREWED UP, BUT WE CAN NOT LOSE HOPE!! DO YOU HERE ME??”, Soyeon says every word slowly and precisely while slowly shaking the boy’s shoulders to have maximum impact on him, “And to answer your question, yes, I know what I did. And I also know that right or wrong, it was the only option open in front of me to save my family, and I was not ashamed enough to not  take it …”

“What do you mean by saving your family? Didn’t you just ruin it’s reputation? Your name? For god’s shake they are planning to took your properties to transfer them to me now as you say… me?!?”, Jungkook protests.

“Don’t you see that our family name is already ruined?? They already see us as traitors!! They didn’t even think twice to ask me in front of a whole court, treating me as a mere thief !! They might not have forced me to go there, or forced to answer or locked me up.. but do think I had the choice of not going there or answering their questions anyway?? They treat me… or to say pretend to treat me like noble on the outside… but there is and always will be a great distinction in their mind. It wouldn’t have matter whatever I had said today about you and your presence, it would go against me anyway. The judgement had already been written even before I entered the court.. even before the decided to ask me for my presence… or to say that they asked for my presence to announce the judgement… asking for my side of the story… or what I had to say was only a mere formality… the answer was simple.. they don’t trust me, therefore need enough reason put me out.. and here your existence gave them the opportunity.. it doesn’t matter if you are a spy or not.. that will be another story altogether… but me…my fate..was already written…”, Soyeon stops to breathe. She turns her head towards Somi who is sitting on the stairs, crying silently.

“So you see..”, Soyeon starts again giving a nod to Somi, “I needed to think fast.. I had to save my family..and also save you if possible..”, Soyeon looks back at Jungkook, “ I could easily transfer all the blame to you.. I could easily portray myself a victim of yours by saying that you forced us of our safety by taking the absence of any male’s presence in your favour..”, Jungkook shakes at the thought, “ But I couldn’t of course… it might have provided me of some cheap sympathy.. but why should I stoop to that level… besides I am kind of fond of you by now..”, Soyeon smiles at Jungkook, “Therefore I decided that if I were to lie.. it should be completely in our favour only… I remember you told us that your name is Jeon Jungkook when you woke up… back then I thought it was a lie.. or some cheap plotting against us.. though later I understood that you were genuine and not a fake.. even though I still don’t understand why and how you can be a Jeon… truth or false.. At that moment in the court… I decided to seal it.. They were planning to take everything away from me and to transfer them to someone trustworthy… then why not helping them instead? Providing them the very person?”, Soyeon stops with a mischievous grin.

“But why do you think that they will trust me?”, Jungkook asks after a minute.

“ They won’t … but they don’t have a choice regarding this matter.. unfortunately their likings and dislikings can not bend the law..”, Soyeon laughs, “ Besides, all of their problems are with me and me only… As far as I remember.. everyone was quite fond of my brother.. he was one of King Taehyung’s closest.. They might not like you at first… but knowing you are my dead brother’s only son will give you a chance to win them over with time….”
