"What are you thinking?", he asked mockingly.
I'm thinking of funny thoughts. That's what.
"...nothing! I mean, is there anything else you want?"
Fuck. Why does that sound terrible? Is it just me? Or does it sound like I'm asking him for...
"C-cookie! How about some cookies ?"
Argh. Why am I being like this?
I should have said no but I even ended up offering him some cookies. I don't want him to stay any longer but this conversation is driving me insane!
He smiled at me. "Alright."
We went down to our kitchen. I made him a hot chocolate and gave him some cookies.
I poured myself some milk too. This would help me sleep.
"So, how long are you planning on staying?", he asked and I immediately frowned.
I remembered what the agent told me two days ago. We hired a broker who could help us find a buyer for the house but he insisted on doing a lot of changes in the house so we could sell it. There are also a lot of paper works!
"I don't think I can leave just yet. I've got tons of work to do in this house."
"Do you really need to sell it?"
I looked at him and then back to my glass of milk.
"Not really."
"Then don't sell it."
"We could use the money for our business in Oxford. We'll be staying there for good so it'll be rare for us to come and visit. We have no use for the house."
He stared at his chocolate drink as if contemplating what I'd said.
I shrugged the thought off and took a cookie from the jar.
"Do you need any help? Selling it?"
I looked at him, thinking if I should accept his help. There's no harm in trying. I'm also going to need a ride fixing the paperwork. I don't have my car with me so I had to take the subway now and then.
I can't ask Van as he's also busy talking with his clients. I also can't ask Sunny for a ride cause she's busy with her restaurant.
"Don't you have work?", I asked and he shrugged.
"I have my own company. My secretary reports everything to me."
"Wow. It must've been nice."
He gave me a small smile. "So?", he prompted.
It's not a bad idea, right?
But it's also not a good idea. I thought to myself.
I hope I don't regret this decision later on.
"I could use a ride.", I murmured.
