Hi everyone! So... I'd found the idea of putting my whole book up here a little hard to grapple with, but I recently was talking to a friend who was really successful on here and she said that putting up a chapter frequently meant people saw it in the update feed and were more likely to read it (which they did in droves, go her) and I'd really like my book to be just as successful, so I finally decided to start putting up more chapters. I hope you guys like the rest of my story, so if you did, just click the vote button so I know =) Thanks! And happy reading =)
Another two and a half weeks went by, and nothing happened out of the ordinary. I managed to avoid Damien, and when he was around, he didn't mention Indah. It had me worried. Ros tried to distract me with Tom, but I was having none of it.
"Rosina! I do not want to date Tom! So STOP IT!" I finally cried on Tuesday afternoon.
"But he likes you!" she lilted.
"Argh! No, no he doesn't. He probably thinks he does, only because you keep telling him so! You're this little bird in his ear, chirping away until he finally says ok, just to shut you up! And now you think he thinks he likes me! Well. All the chirping in the world won't make me date him!"
"Humph! Well don't say I didn't tell you!"
"I won't! Because it's not true!"
"It is though. It's so plain, I can't believe I have to tell you in the first place!"
"Plain, huh? No, I think it goes more like this: I think you think I have to think he thinks he likes me so that I start to think I think I like him, so that you think we both think we like the other, and then you can tell the other the other likes the other, and it'll all be happy happy! Not gonna happen! So cut it out!"
Ros frowned, trying to work out what I just said.
"See? It's not that simple. You just think it is."
"You're so weird, you know that?"
"Uh-huh. Why don't you go tell him that, and that will clear away any thoughts he thought he had about me."
"Will you stop speaking in looped sentences? Please, you're making my head spin. And I thought English classes were bad. I should just spend five minutes with you and your crazy talk and I'll become the best student there is! Yeesh."
"Gee thanks. But since I'm the one who creates the crazy talk, I should be the best student there is. Besides, you already are, so stop complaining."
"No I'm not, and I'm not complaining."
"Yes, you are."
"I'm neither! But if I am, then Tom likes you." She smiled, pleased that she'd got me.
"Fine. Truce." I sighed. "Now can we actually get some study done?"

On Wednesday morning Damien dropped his first bomb and flattened us all. He'd not been around in the mornings for ages, so I'd almost started to forget he ever had been. Rosina hadn't ever experienced a morning in our house with him there- and that's going back to when he was often a morning presence. He was always away or caught up with work when she stayed over. Now, the three of us sat around the table eating breakfast and drinking tea or coffee or orange juice. Mum was reading the paper, and Ros and I were chatting when he walked in and announced himself. We all looked up in shock, as if a stranger had waltzed in. We stared at him as though we expected him to say, 'Oh, I'm so sorry, I thought this was my house. Please forgive me, I'll leave you to your meal. Sorry about the interruption'. But he didn't, so we continued to stare at him as he put bread in the toaster and poured himself a cup of coffee. Finally he stopped and looked at us, then smiled.
