" When did they say they were going to call back?" Phil said to Dan, who was sitting, jittery-legged on a stool, next the the landline phone in the kitchen.
" When we'd been approved." Dan said.
Dan and Phil had recently applied for adoption, and they had gotten a voice recording once their information had been put in. They said they'd be called back, if they were approved.
" Do you think we'll get to adopt, Phil?" Dan asked.
" Of course! At some point, we will be able to. I'm sure of it." Phil said. Dan stared at the phone.
Two days passed. Dan was sure that they'd been denied. Phil's eyes were full of tears as the third day went by.
" We've been denied, Phil. I know it." Dan said.

" Dan! The phone!" Phil yelled. Dan ran to the phone, pressing it up to his right ear, breathing in deeply. His voice cracked, and his heart was thumping in his ears.
" H-Hello?" Dan croaked.
" Hello! My name is Hallie, and I am happy to inform you that your adoption request has been seen and approved!" The girl named Hallie said.
" R-Really?" Dan said. " Hallie, is it. Okay, um, when can we go over there?"
" Actually, I have no idea... Um...Today's my first day...I tried to act professional. Hold on. My manager Kat (not the youtuber, one of my friends) will tell you the information." Hallie said. " I'll put you on hold."
Hallie pressed the "hold" button. She called Kat, who was only an office over.
" Hallie! How many times do I have to tell you. You can just yell for me. I'm right here." Kat yelled, her bright blue eyes flaring with annoyance, as she opened her office door.
" But Katty-Kakes! That's not "professional"!!!" Hallie protested.
" It's my office, and I'll tell you what isn't and is professional. And don't. call. me. Katty-Cakes." Kat replied, sitting down at her desk. The phone rang, and it was Hallie.
" Excuse me? Miss Katty? There's a-" Hallie squinted towards the scribbled writing on a crumpled green sticky note. " Dan-i-el Howl-star and Phee-lip Howl-star on Line 2."
" It's Daniel Howlter and Philip Howlter, I think, Hallie. Get yourself some reading glasses." Kat laughed. " I'm kidding. You're doing great. Go take a break, I'll take care of this." Kat said, pressing the "end" button, and then clicking on the blinking green button for Line 2.
" Hello, my name is Kat. I apologize for your three day long wait, there were some...er...complications. And I see you've applied to adopt a girl. You said it didn't matter which girl..."
" Yes." Dan said. " Whichever one you see fit for us to raise. May I ask, what were the complications?"
" Well, um, just some background issues for one of the children. Now, do you have a pen and paper? You'll need to remember these dates." Kat said.
" Hold on a moment-er-yes! Phil hold the pen! Dang it! Hold on. Could you hand me the-um-over here! Ugh you fool, just, give it here. Sorry! So, what were those dates?" Dan said, struggling to hold the phone die to excitement.
" You are to come to the orphanage on Wednesday, at 2:30pm. Your child is named Rosie-Paige Alexandria, of course, she'll be taking your surname once you get here, Mr. Howlter. Her nursery number is 934." Kat said. " I'll be pleased to see you here."
" And we'll be glad to be there! Goodbye!" Dan said.
" Goodbye!" Kat responded, happily clicking "end".
" PHIL! WE'RE GOING TO BE PARENTS!" Dan said, jumping into Phil's arms practically.
" I KNOW!" Phil yelled happily, kissing Dan on the forehead. " AH I'M SO HAPPY! Tomorrow we need to go shopping, and get the nursery prepared." Phil said, smiling.
" Her room will have lots of pastels." Dan said.
" Of course." Phil responded. " Anything for you."
( If you haven't had your name mentioned yet, it will be in future updates. Goodbye for now!)
