Once everyone had got up and brushed themselves off after the fight with the dark smoky figure, they took a breath and were now ready to look for the songbird again.
"Hey guys... where has the spirit gone?" John pointed out that the spirit that they were just fighting had indeed disappeared into thin air.
Everyone looked around trying to see where the spirit went.
"Maybe we scared it off... Maybe it was so intimidated by our powers that it didn't think that it was worth it fight anymore..." Boris wasn't completely sure that's what happened but it made him feel better and took his mind off of the fact that this meant the spirit could come back at any moment.
"Okay that's concerning but we have to keep moving forward! We will have to just stay on our guard and keep an eye out for any other spirits or creatures try to attack us." Jonah said confidently.
"Jonah's right! We have a mission to complete! We can't let a little danger stop us from saving the world right!?" Joey tried to take charge and encourage the others to keep going.
"Well maybe but..." Boris began but was swiftly cut off by joey.
"WHAT!?" Joey shouted "What excuse are you going to make up now, huh?! You're too scared?! You're not prepared enough?! If you weren't ready for what we were going to encounter then you shouldn't have come!" Joey said a little too forcefully.
"Anyone else got any questions!?" Joey asked but before anyone could answer he continued "Good! the chain is only as strong as its weakest link after all!" After he had finished joey turned and started to walk towards a clearing that was just in front of them. Joey couldn't tell if that outburst came from the evil spirt or from his own frustrations... he was getting more and more like the evil spirit and what scared him the most was that he was starting to enjoy it.
"Joey, wait for me!" Megan called out.
"Ah! Glad to have you with me Megan! are the others coming?" Joey asked.
"What do you mean of course we are! you'll need us to take the edge off with our amazing comedy!" John said proudly with Jenifer smiling warmly behind him.
"Y-yeah! and you'll need me a Jonah to deal with the more difficult monsters! We are the town guards after all." Boris joined in. "Jonah! buddy? are you coming?"
Jonah was the only one that felt unsure about continuing, something dangerous and unusual was happening and he didn't like it but Boris was right, he had a duty to protect the group and he was gonna carry it out until the bitter end but he hoped that it wouldn't have to come to that.
"Yeah of course! Someone has got to keep you out of trouble haha" Jonah playfully punched Boris on the shoulder.
"OW! Careful, you know I bruise like a peach!" Boris scolded.
"Well then... which way oh great leader!" Jonah teased.
"Im... not sure... since we've never been here before and the fact that the bookworms book has the last few pages torn out, I think we might be lost!" Joey was embarrassed, he was so confident a minute ago but now after he calmed down he realised that they were now in the middle of nowhere with no clue as to where to go next.
"Okay let's think, have we heard or seen anything that could point us in the right direction?" Megan suggested.
The group stood in silence for a few minutes trying to come up with a plan, when joey remembered what the spirit had said and also remembered that there was an old Plan fairy tale that says something similar.
"Hey Megan!" Joey exclaimed suddenly.
"Yes Joey!" Megan said startled.
"Isn't there an old myth about this forest?"
