"...and THAT is how I defeated the dreaded two-headed beast of skull hill!"
Joey listened very closely to the amazing story that Jonah was telling him about his latest monster battle.
"Wow! Is that all true?" Joey looked up at Jonah, quite amazed at the unbelievable story he was just told.
"Errr... Yeah! Of course! It's 100% true!" Jonah said, not entirely sure while trying to avoid eye contact.
He's lying, Joey!
Joey heard someone say something off in the distance but it was so quiet that he just ignored it.
"So... does anyone know where we are going? Because I don't." John said from the back of the group. "It's just that we started walking into the woods without coming up with a plan first."
Everyone stopped in their tracks and looked around at where they were.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The woods were a dangerous place to go exploring if you didn't know what you were doing before you set off.
Walking in between the miles and miles of trees, that seemed to go on forever, could easily make you feel disorientated and cause you not to be able to find your way. Add that to the hundreds of creatures that lurked within and you have a deadly combination.
The trees grew tall and their branches reached far enough that they blocked out most of all natural sunlight so it was really hard to see where you were going.
There was no path, just a bit of trampled ground where many people had walked in but had never walked out!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Uhhh, guys... I don't want to worry you but... I think our chances of surviving in these woods are looking a bit... dim." Boris let out a nervous laugh but Joey knew that he was terrified.
"Awww don't worry! We'll be fine! We just have to..." Joey was interrupted by Boris.
"Fine? FINE?! Do you even know what woods we are in?!" Boris shouted while cowering behind Jonah.
"I can find that out!" There was a rustling of paper while Megan searched for the right page in her big book of information about the musicians! "Aha! We are in the wood of lost souls! They are..." she started to speak but trailed off the more that she read her book.
"See! LOST souls! I don't think that I need to explain what that means, do I?!" Boris was panicking and evidently VERY scared.
Joey, seeing how scared he was, went to go and comfort Boris "Hey... calm down. Look! There is a signpost just up ahead, If we can get to it and see what it's pointing at then we can get somewhere safe!"
Boris took a few deep breaths.
"Are you okay now?" Joey asked, sympathetically.
Boris was still shaking a bit but looked like he had pulled himself together "Yes... I think..."
"Good! Now, let's keep going! We wood-n't want to be late." Joey smiled at his own joke and looked at everyone, expecting a laugh but only found silence.
"Yeeeeah... I think you should leave the joke making to us Joey. Your jokes are good but they don't pack as much punch as ours" Jen said awkwardly.
They are insulting you, Joey! Are you going to take that?! The whispering voice was louder now but was still too soft for joey to notice it.
