Chapter 3: Not everything is what it seems

"Well, we got rid of that golem quite quickly and found the way to the musician's hideout, now all we need to do is find a way to get inside. I wonder if there are any doors to this place?" Jen wondered.

So the group decided to split up into three groups and go around the building to look for a way into the musician's hideout. 

"Nothing here!" John and Jen announced from behind the building.

"We haven't found anything!" Boris and Megan shouted after checking both sides of the building.

"Okay! Come back around the front and we'll figure out a way to get in!" Joey shouted back to all of them.

They all regrouped at the front of the building so that they could try to think of a way into the building.

"Is everyone sure that they didn't see anything?" Joey asked.

There was a murmur of agreement from the group.

"Huh... Well, we are a bit stuck now, aren't we? What do we do now?" Jonah said, deep in thought.

While everyone discussed what they should do, Joey took a closer look at the front wall of the hideout.

It looked like a completely normal stone wall, there was nothing to show the group what to do and, apart from the occasional bit of vines or moss, the walls were completely blank until Joey spotted something.

"Hey, Guys! I think I see a loose brick in the wall over there!" Joey tried to get everyone's attention but he wasn't loud enough to be heard over the others talking.

They're ignoring you, Joey! The whispering voice teased.

"Guys! I found something!" Joey shouted louder but everyone still couldn't hear him.

They don't care Joeseph! They only care about themselves! The voice sounded angry that Joey wasn't listening.

 Joey ignored the voice and tried to get everyone's attention again but failed.

*sigh* This one is even stupider than the last! Looks like I am going to have to handle this! The voice was getting impatient so it took things into its own hands.

"Oi YoU pEsTs! LiStEn Up!" The whole group heard Joey that time. However... it didn't sound like him, not fully. It sounded like him but there was another voice over the top that sounded sharp, vicious, accusing and almost demonic in nature... this was definitely NOT joey. 

The whole group was in shocked silence.

"FiNaLlY! RiGhT, i HaVe FoUnD a WaY iNtO tHe BuIlDiNg. So, I wOuLd ApPrEaCiAtE iT iF yOu NuMbSkUlLs CoUlD pUlL yOuRsElVeS tOgEtHeR aNd HeLp Me! ThAtS wHaT yOuR hErE fOr, IsN't It?!" "Joey" started to walk towards the wall where he saw the loose brick. However, after a few steps forwards, he collapsed!

"Joey!" Megan and Jen yelled and ran up to him and kneeled down beside him.

"Joey! Are you okay?!" Megan was confused, she had never seen any disease or curse like this before, she didn't know what was happening. All she knew was that it wasn't good.

"Come on jo jo! Quit being so down... heh heh... heh..." Jen joked, but there wasn't even a small giggle from joey.

Megan reached out to touch Joey but he swatted her hand away.

"DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH ME!" The roar of the demonic like voice made everyone, even Jonah, jump back in surprise.

However, as soon as joey realized who he was talking to, his angry snarl dropped into a wide-eyed confusion. "Uhhh... Megan? Why are we on the floor?"
