Well, that was... weird. Different. Different enough to snap Stanley out of his anger.

"Stanley, look. I know you want to get out, but I genuinely don't know how! I-"

Stanley ignored him and left the room.

"...You're mad at me, aren't you?"

Stanley quickly shook his head at The Narrator.

"No? Well then... do you just not care anymore?" Stanley paused and nodded, bowing his head in apology about earlier. "...That's quite alright."

Stanley had this weird feeling about the messages. He had a feeling that it wouldn't be the last time he'd get one.

He decided to do the cold feet ending as an apology, since it amused The Narrator so much to watch him die trying to survive a jump after he "chickened out" on the platform.

"Come on, I'm sure you'll survive the jump! That's not the Stanley I know. Do it! DO IT! Do it do it do it do it!" Whether he was trying to get Stanley killed or not, The Narrator's excitement always made him smile.

So, Stanley paused a moment before jumping down. Everything faded to black. "Oops, I was wrong. How clumsy of me."
