Chapter 10: A storm is brewing

Brooklyn's POV:

I had no idea where to look for Ronni. I didn't know where he lived and it would be really suspicious if I asked his team or coaches.

I had checked all over school and every restaurant he liked. Nothing.

I gave up and went back to the school. I was going back the the football field in hopes I would think of a where Ronni was.

I trudged to the field and took a seat in the bleachers. I look up and see dark clouds starting to form.

"Great. Ronni is lost and now it's going to rain. What a perfect day." I said sarcastically.

Movement caught my eye. I looked down and saw a blond figure laying on the field.

"Ronni!" I said smiling.

I hurried down to him.

"Ronni where-" I stopped short. He was... crying.

I sat down next to him.

"Ronni what's wrong?" I asked wiping away some of his tears.

"Nothin' Brook. I'm good. It's just... allergies."

"Ronni I know that's not true."

He looked at me.

"Brook... what would you do if you found out your world was about to be destroyed?"

"What?" I was surprised. "That's oddly specific."

"I know. But what would you do?"

"Well I'd probably just sit there and stare off into space or cry. Why do you ask?" I was still confused.

"I found out my world might end." He said barley above a whisper.

I was taken aback.

"Wha- how- why?" I stumble over my words.

He shook his head.

"I can't say. But I wish I didn't know."

I don't know what to do.

"Is there anything I can do? Anything I can help with?" I studied his face.

"Just don't leave." He whispered staring back at the sky.

"Okay. I can do that." I lie down next to him. "I'll stay."

It began to rain. We stayed on the field in the rain for a long time.

"Brook," Ronni turns his head to look at me.

"Mhmm?"

"Thank you."

I smile.

"Of course sunshine."

He tilts his head forward and rests it by my ear.

My ear tingles as he whispers.

"I'm glad I ran into you. I only wish I met you sooner."

I take his hand and give it a squeeze.
