Chapter 1 ~ "Can we meet?"

It was a very cold and foggy morning of December, as much as I wanted to keep sleeping whole day, my duty call wouldn't let me sleep anymore. I pushed myself out of the bed, did all my morning chores and left the dorm on my way to work.

I was walking towards the hospital, when I heard my phone vibrating in my coat's pocket. I was wondering who would call me this early in the morning as it was just 7am now! I quickly reached for my cell and saw the caller ID, it was DAD. I smiled, I hadn't spoken to my dad yesterday as I had worked till late night yesterday and wasn't able to make free time to call him. Usually when I didn't call him by myself he would understand the situation and call the next day morning, just like today.

" Good morning Mr Jason Sue! How are you doing today?? " I giggled.

"Good morning sweetheart! I'm doing absolutely fine. How are you? Late night yesterday?"

"I'm good too Dad. Yes, quite a long day yesterday. Now on the way back to hospital"

" Take care Ani, You maybe a doctor but I will always keep reminding you, Your Health comes first okayy? "

"Yeah Dad I'll keep that in mind"

"How about you take leave for a day this week?"

"Leave!? It's nothing that serious Dad, I can manage and I promise to take a break whenever I feel burned out"

"Well. you need to take the leave because.. you have to meet someone"

My dad trailed his words hesitantly. Something is suspicious. Meeting someone! whom should I meet? That's when I remembered our conversation last time, dad had found 2 alliances best suitable for me and was finalizing which one family to meet first and had said that I should be prepared as I'd have to meet the guys soon. Thats what he had said before hanging up. I took a deep breath and replied,

"Ohh! So you finally decided to meet one of the family?"

"No! Actually.. we met yesterday. I mean Me and your mom met the guy's mom and dad. We both actually didn't find anything wrong or any complaints. We are even okay for this marriage if you both agree"

I stopped still as I heard everything coming from my dad. Had they seriously fixed my marriage and only waiting for a yes from my side? Have they lost thier minds. I knew both of my parents were trying to get me married for almost a year now and had effectively convinced me too, with their various ways of talking. And I finally gave up after pushing for so many months and agreed last month for the marriage but I didn't know that this would speed up and happen this soon.

"WHAT!!! You're kidding right? This isn't the time for Jokes Dad"
I chucked, Though I was so nervous and tensed from inside as I knew Dad would never joke about this matter with me.

"No sweetheart why would I lie to you about your marriage, You know right your marriage is my one big dream"

"Dad!" my breathing quickened. I walked towards the nearby empty bench in the garden of our hospital and sat there.

" Okay okayy let's not talk about that part now. Nothing is fixed yet dear. I just said we all are okay with this alliance but the main two people here is the groom and the bride, Without your both consent nothing will go further. "

I couldn't reply anything, I didn't know what to say. I wasn't prepared for this, atleast not now.

"I know Ani you must be nervous about this meeting since it's the first time for you. But we did our background check and everything the guy seems really good you should give it a try, just one chance. If things don't go well, there still are plenty of other guys. yeah sweetheart? "

I somehow felt relaxed and better. This is going happen sooner or later, I should have been ready. I started nodding in response to my dad and realized he wasn't here to see me.

"okay Dad I'll meet him"

" That's really good decision Ani, I'm sure you will enjoy this meeting. I'll send you the details of the guy to you now. Now get going with your hospital and don't forget to text the guy!! yeah byee sweetie, take care." he spoke in full enthusiasm and hung up.

That's how all our calls end, he gets to convince my fully for everything he has planned and just after I agree he cuts the call without any further convo. Maybe he's scared I'll change my mind if he keeps talking. Shaking my head I sigh. That's when I hear a ping sound from my cellphone, realizing it might be Dad's message of the details.

My pager buzzed waking me from my deep thoughts and I realized I have spent too much time here outside the hospital itself and I rose from the bench and started walking inside the hospital.

Susie, our hospital's head nurse waved at me as both of us reached the reception. I entered my login through the the biometric device. Susie came towards me after her interaction with the receptionist. She smiled at me and started patting my back, before speaking.

"Are you alright honey!? I saw you walking towards the door a while ago and you suddenly stopped and walked away tensed while you were on the phone."

Nurse Susie and I had grown quite close over my time at this hospital and she was in her early 50s, a motherly figure to me. I could sense she was worried for me.

"Nothing to worry Susie aunty, Just my dad's call again talking about my marriage."

"Ohh sweetie." She started shaking her head and continued " You should agree to get married dear. I know for sure, whoever is the boy that'll marry you is so very lucky to have a wife like you, and I also know that Jesus has chosen a best groom for this best bride here" she rubbed her hand on my shoulders.

"I have heard enough of this already Susie aunty, You know me better than this, I still don't want to get married, I've have got lots of work to do and so do you. See you later byee!!" with that I hurried towards the stairs, maternity and child Department was in 2nd floor of the building, as I heard a low sound of byee behind me.

While climbing up the stairs, I quickly read my dad's text.

Dr Kunal Abney Ruse
DOB - 16/03/1997 Gender - Male
Neurosurgeon at St George Neuropsychiatric Hospital
Contact: ***********

....

There was a lot more details in there which I didn't bother to read. Saved the number and was editing the name "Dr Ku..." when I bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry doctor" the person said, when the actual mistake was mine for looking at my phone so I kept the phone back in my pocket " Noo no I'm sorry " I apologized and walked forward inside the staff room, and sat in my cabin, took out my cell to see the number being saved I texted him first-
but what will I send?

'Heyy this is Anisha your furure would be wife' OR should I text 'Mister Dr Kunal whatever, myself Dr Anisha Bidson Sue, the one and only you are dreaming to marry. Since it would never happen better give up and reject me before i reject you'

After thinking of all the ways to change the guys mind on marrying me, finally I ended up sending this text.

' Hello Dr Kunal, This is Dr Anisha Bidson Sue. I guess you should probably know that our parents met yesterday for our marriage alliance ' The message was read within a minute or two.

And after few minutes when I didn't get any reply I was getting more tensed and made up mind to send another text.

Hesitantly I pressed the send button and in a microsecond I got his text back, reading which I was surprised. We both had sent the text at exact same time reading exact same thing -

"Can we meet!?"
