"What chu doing?" An odd man asked. He looked to be about thirteen.
"Writing." I responded.
"What are you writing? Music?" The man asks as he looks at what I'm writing.
"Yes. Who are you?" I ask him.
"Ah, I guess I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Kouki Kosuke. You'll be working with me starting today. You look awfully young. How old are you?"
"Six." I reply.
"Awfully young to be in an agency don't you think. Oh well I guess it's not my place to question it. Writing music huh? Do you play an instrument?" The man named Kouki responds.
"No, I just like to sing." I respond.
"I'm sure it sounds nice." He comments.
I spent the rest of my childhood with Kouki until I was 18 and he was 25. We got along quite well with each other.
"I have a mission for you two." The boss tells us.
"What is it?" Kouki asks.
We went out on the mission. There was a man we had to kill.
"Don't let him get away!" Kouki yells.
"Understood!" I yell back.
I had returned to the area after killing the guy. There was Kouki, a gun held up to him. I tried to scream his name, but nothing would come out. The sound of the three gunshots ring in my head. I saw the boss in the back with a smile on his face.
I ran over to Kouki.
"Kouki! Kouki! Kouki! Hang in there, Kouki!" I yelled.
"Ah, I'm gonna die here, aren't I? So just listen to me. Okay?""Don't start talking like that." I plea.
"I can't be saved so won't you please just listen?" He asks me in a soft voice.
I stayed quiet.
"Good. Please don't blame yourself for my death. Also run, run away as far as you can from the agency. Someone like you doesn't deserve to be in a hell hole like this. Live a life you can be happy with. Find what makes you happy, be free, do everything you want to do. Even if you don't know now. You'll learn one day. Also make sure my brother knows that I'm sorry for never being as close to him as I wanted to be. Take care of yourself. It felt like everyone expected the most from me. To be the best of the best but with you I could always be myself. Thank you for giving me that freedom. Now take ahold of your own torch saying I can no longer hold it." He tells me."Torch?" what was he even saying? What does he mean by torch?
"I know it sounds weird now, and you don't understand. You'll understand when you learn to understand yourself. Learn feelings and emotions. I never tried hard enough to do that for you. So, find something or someone that'll teach you those feelings and emotions. You love music, right? So, write music. Write one song. Write a song and sing it at my grave. Though only when you learn your feelings and emotions can you write your song and sing it. That's how music works. Live a life you don't regret, okay?" He asks.
"Yeah..." I answer quietly.
"Good. Thanks for everything. Live a good life, okay? So, let's make it a promise, sing to me when you know who you are." He holds out his pinky and I lock mine with his.
"Okay."
His eyes turned lifeless, his skin pale, he was gone.
"Kouki. Kouki! Kouki!" I screamed his name praying for some sort of response. To no avail.
