In the City Hall, the building was in chaos. The Fire Chief was yelling at Hardemeyer, "The Battery is swamped! We've had more than three thousand calls since midnight last night!" The Police Commissioner nods his head, "We've had to remain in uniform on the streets, and I am still short-handed. We've had meter maids chasing ghosts all over midtown!" The Public Works Official gives Hardemeyer a diagram, "There's this shell thing over the Manhattan Museum of Art. We can't make a dent!"
Hardemeyer scoffs, "Have you tried dynamite?"
The Public Works Offical groans, "We've tried everything." The Mayor enters the room, "What the hell is going on? It's pandemonium out there!" Hardemeyer stands up from his seat, "Yes, I know, we're working on it!"
"Great. While you're working on it, I'm going down in history as the mayor who let New York get sucked down into the tenth level of hell. All right, we've got no choice. Call the Ghostbusters."
"Wait!" Hardemeyer steps closer to the Mayor, "Now, I'm sure there's another way."
"Jack, I spent an hour last night in my bedroom talking to Fiorello LaGuardia, and he's been dead for forty years. Now, where are the Ghostbusters?" The Mayor grabs some papers from the table to read over as Hardemeyer rubs his hands in worry, "Uh... they're not available."
The Mayor turns around with a frown, "What do you mean, they're not available?"
"Well, I had them committed to the psychiatric ward at Parkview Hospital."
"You what?!"
"They were threatening to go to the press! I was protecting your interests!" Hardemeyer tried to defend himself, but that made the Mayor even more furious, "Oh yeah?!" Hardemeyer backs up as the Mayor advances on him, "Uh-huh!"
"Well, you can stop protecting my interests. You have exactly three minutes to clear out. You're fired!" The Mayor shouts, shoving Hardemeyer's items in his hands. Hardemeyer stutters, "But the election! You're making a big mistake, Mr. Mayor!"
The Mayor turns to the Police Commissioner, "Harry! Remove this man from the building. And get me the Ghostbusters!" Hardemeyer is shoved out of the room, and the Mayor's aide calls out to him, "Mr. Mayor? Mr. Mayor? Come take a look at this." The Mayor walks up to the window to see the sky filled with bolts of dark energy, and more ghosts appearing in the city, "Wow. Have you ever seen anything like that before?" The aide mutters.
"Somebody get me the Ghostbusters." The Mayor ordered.
Louis arrived at the Parkview Hospital, telling the doctors that the Ghostbusters were needed right away. The Ghostbusters suit up as Louis explains what had happened, "And he took the baby into the carriage, and it levitated away!"
"What'd Dana do? Where'd she go?" Peter asks.
"I don't know. She said she was going to the museum to get the baby back! And there was an eclipse, and the whole town went dark, and everybody's nuts!" Louis replies quickly. The Class 5 follows quickly behind the boys as they hurried to the Etco-1A. "It all fits! Vigo wants in on the 21st century. He needs a human body to inhabit. Little Oscar must be it!" Ray theorizes.
"Yeah, and I bet we're the only ones who can do anything about it, right?" Winston spoke. "You bet we are!" Ray opens the door and starts the engine as Peter and Egon jump in the back. The Queen follows the Ecto-1A to the museum.
