Angst to fluff

The two kings shook a bloody handshake, bodies surrounded them as they stared at each other. One red, the other blue. "Our first borns will bring us peace," Said the blue king, "Agreed."

They both had sons, one screaming and the other crying. The blue son was easily put to sleep as the red son would not quiet, no matter what they did he would always be crying. A servant, a beautiful young woman wearing the uniform of the Flame Kingdom's servant outfit, was put in charge of the son, trying to quiet him as best she could. 'Maybe he's hot,' She thought, opening the window and sitting at the edge with the son. He cried and screamed before opening his eyes as tiny frozen droplets of water softly fell around him, one landing on his nose. He laughed, trying to catch the unfamiliar particles in his tiny, chubby hands. That was the first time he ever laughed.

The young son sat at the table, his mother and father eating what the cooks made as he picked at his food. "(Y/N), don't play with your food. It's not proper." The king scolded the young boy, the queen side eyeing him. He silently imitated his words in a mocking manner when his parents weren't looking, the servants trying their best to keep a straight. One servant, a young man who only started wearing the Flame Kingdom uniform of royal waiter, got distracted by the young prince and walked into another servant. Plates fell as food went everywhere, everyone looking mortified at the young servant. The prince laughed. He quickly apologized, the other servants helping him clean up. That was the second time he laughed.

The prince, now a young man, dangled his feet over the edge of the roof, looking at the sky and wishing for snowfall. It never snowed in the Flame Kingdom, that night it snowed for the first time in over a million years. He laid back, raising his arms to the sky as he closed his eyes. "Young (Y/N)- Young (Y/N)?!" He groaned, getting off from the roof and climbing back into his room, startling the two servants here to fetch him for breakfast. They let out a sigh as he sat at the window. "Young (Y/N), you know your father would not be happy if he saw you doing that!" One scolded him as he sighed, rolling his head back into the wall, "It's not like he comes here anyway. He doesn't talk to me,"The servants side glanced each other before leading him to the dining area, the long table that was pointless- the Flame Kingdom was certainly not know for the welcoming warmth as most- too large for a family of three. The king sat at the end, a big fancy chair holding him up. The queen sitting on his right, the prince sat on his left. "(Y/N), I have an important meeting today and you're coming," he groaned, "Don't make such noises!" The queen glared at him as the servants placed down the plates. "You will come, and you will like it. That's final." The prince huffed as he picked up his fork.

The carriage ride was awkward for the family, never being close as they should be. The young man looked out the window, watching as trees and rocks- with the occasional animal- pass by. He watched as the grass started to turn white, looking around as he saw the snow falling. He glanced at his parents, both busy with boring adult business, before opening the window. The chill felt nice as he outstretched a hand, snow flakes melting over the heat of it. "(Y/N)! Close the window, it's freezing!" His mother shut the window, his arm almost caught in it. The prince huffed as he crossed his arms, sinking into the seat. "Close your legs, no one like a show-er."His face was pressed against the window, the chillness soothing his face as his breath fogged it up. The carriage came to a stop and the door opened, the prince almost falling out if he didn't catch the top of the carriage. His father walked out first, his mother following. He was last, looking at the man that almost caused his demise (he didn't even say sorry, the bastard!) before looking down. The white snow crunched under his feet as he walked, marching in place as the crunch of the snow got quieter. He looked up as his father cleared his throat, seeing commoners looking at him. His mother wasn't looking at him, too embarrassed to claim him as her son. The king gestured forward, "Come on, (Y/N)."
They walked up the steps to the unfamiliar castle, watching as one of their servants slipped and fell down the stairs. The prince laughed, his shoulders shaking, "(Y/N)." The king hissed. The prince quiet down, walking up the stairs once again. They made it to the dining room, seeing a family of five sitting at the table. An older woman- the queen, he thinks- sitting on the kings right, followed by two younger- but still older than the prince himself- women, and a young man sitting at the end. The father took his seat beside the king, the mother following, the prince flopping down in his chair. Everyone looked at him as his mother brought a hand to her head, "What?"
"(Y/N), behave for once in your life." His mother hissed at him, looking towards the king and queen of the Frost Kingdom to converse with them, along with your father. "Himira, Sakura, switch places with Kōtarō, please." The blue king was kind to his daughters, they moved places with Kōtarō. The princes were now sitting face-to-face, staring at each other as the adults talked. "Kōtarō, why don't you show (Y/N) around while dinner is prepared?" The queen scooted him up, "Oh, uh, okay! Right this way," the young adults walked around, goofing off with each other. Running in the garden laughing, the red prince stopped as snow started to fall. He stared, mesmerized by the beauty.
"You like snow?" Kōtarō came up to him, "Yeah, it doesn't snow back home." Both of their faces were cold, the blue prince breathing in deep, "This was fun!" He smiled, "I can't wait to hang out again!" They walked back to the dining area. "I haven't had that much fun in, like, forever!" The blue prince yelled. It was the last time he laughed.

"You what?!" The young prince slammed his hands on the table, startling everyone, "Don't raise your voice at me!" The king got up, "You had me because of your stupid rivalry?!" The chair he was sitting on fell over from the force of the angery prince, "You wanted a child because you didn't know how to settle things yourself! You never wanted me, you just wanted his stupid approval!" He pointed to the blue king, "We did want you!" The mother argued, "Oh, yeah? Is that right? Okay, where are my siblings, huh?! They have three kids! Three! I'm an only child! And you had this stupid agreement for no reason!" The mother motioned for the servants, "We're leaving." The king said.

The crown was placed on his head as cheers came from the crowd, standing straight and feeling the furry coat on his shoulders. He hasn't looked at Kōtarō at all during the marriage, the hatred eating at him for being forced to marry for peace. "Eternal peace for the kingdoms!" The old man praised, arms high in the air. Kōtarō looked over at his new husband. He was mad that he had to marry someone against his wishes, but he was happy it was with someone who he was pleased to meet. He just wished the same could be said about him. The ceremony ended as everyone went home, the newly kinged going to their respected rooms. They haven't talked since that day, and one wanted to keep it like that.
——————
Months have gone by since than, Kōtarō would compliment the new king, trying to ease the tension they have. Always being ignored by the other, Kōtarō mood worsened. His hair wasn't spiky and he barely got any sleep, staying up countless nights trying to figure out, 'Why? Why doesn't he like me?' He was at his lowest when he heard his father was sick, knowing with his old age he wouldn't survive. He cried himself to sleep that night, feeling the coldness of the earth and emptiness in his chest. He cried until he couldn't, only making sniffles here and there. He froze when he heard a knock, 'None of the servants should be up,' He thought as he got up, opening the door a little bit to see, "(Y/N)?" He opened the door. His voice was hoarse from the crying, "Hey, Kōtarō," Oh, how his heart fluttered. No matter what happened he tried not to blame him for the way he acted. "I- I'm sorry, for the way I treated you. It wasn't fair, and I was just mad that I had to marry someone against my will. Will you forg-" Kōtarō lunged forward and hugged him, "Please, never do that again," He whispered, "I wont, I promise." Tears of his own falling.
