Mums a bitch
*********
"Wrong." Your mother scolded as you winced from the wrong note being played, "Try again. And don't mess it up, just because the contest is in a month doesn't mean you can slack off." You slouched down, the belt to your dress pants digging into your stomach, "Straighten up! No slackers!" She smacked the ruler against her palm as you straightened up, playing the song over again. You've been practicing for hours for a contest you didn't even want to participate in, your mother wanting a 'Bread winner son'. You played, hitting all the right notes and becoming entranced by it. Sure, you hated playing against your will, but the melody was still as beautiful as ever.

The ruler came down beside you, accidentally hitting two notes at once. You straightened up as she glared at you, "What did-" There was a knock on your door. She gave you one last glance, "Go to your room." She walked away as you silently went to your room, not wanting to have your mother anymore angry with you. The door closed with a soft click, flopping on your bed and staring at the ceiling. 'This sucks,' You looked out the window and into the forest that was outside of your village, the pretty green leaves dancing in the wind. You watched as people in carriages rode by, some on horse back, some just walking their horse. You looked back to the forest, a plan in your head.

You carefully opened your door, hearing the voices of your mothers friends from downstairs as you silently closed the door and crept across the hall to your mothers room. You opened her door, wincing at the creak it gave and making your way to the window. Your bedroom was facing a busy street, so doing this in broad daylight would not be a good idea. You opened the window, stepping out with your right foot before taking your left out and sat on the windowsill. You looked down at the ground, the fear suddenly evading your head. 'No turning back now,' You've already done so much, you can't go back now. Your right foot touched the shingles below the window, the doorknob twisting as you got your left foot down.

You closed the window and pressed yourself to the house, trying not to fall or be seen by whoever almost walked in on you. You took a deep breath, collecting your thoughts before slowly sliding down the roof. You got to the edge, your legs dangling as you turned around and held on to the roof as you pushed yourself off, dangling there for a couple second before letting go. Your feet touched the ground before your ass connected with the soil. "Ow, damn legs..." You grunted as you made eye contact with one of your mother friends, staring at each other through the window before you got up and ran away. You'll deal with it later. You made it around the house and crossed the dirt street, waving to a couple people on horse back.

You walked up to the forest entrance, looking back briefly before walking through the bushes. Your pants got stuck on a branch, tearing it off and getting a tear on them before continuing. You came upon flowers, looking at them with curiosity before picking one. You dropped it with a yelp, "Ow! Bastard," You held your hand as a small scratch wept blood, wiping it on your pants before glaring at the bush of flowers and walking away. The stinging in your finger subsided as you came to a drop, a couple tree roots sticking out of the side as you sat down at the top. You stared at the ground before turning and lying down, your hands above your head as you pushed yourself down the hill. "Wo!"

You yelled, excitement going through your veins. A tree branch dug into your side, your rolling going lopsided and hitting more roots and rocks on the way down. You reached the bottom with a groan and sudden stop, "Shit," Your now green-stained dress shirt had tiny cuts along it, a couple long brown spots from the mud. You got up, looking at the dirt all over your hands before continuing your stroll. You took lefts and rights, looking at all the flowers and even spotting some wildlife. You stopped, realizing it was getting dark and you had no idea where you were. You looked around, panic building up as tears started to gather in your eyes. The hoot of an owl startled you as a giant black and gray owl stopped in front of you.

"Oh, hello," You said, crouching down, "Are you lost too?" The owls big, yellow eyes stared at you as it shook it's head, at least it looked like it. "Oh, bummer." You didn't know why you were talking to an animal, but what else could you do? You were probably going to die, might as well have fun. You stared at it as you got a sudden chill, remembering you only had a dress shirt on. It turned its head around, "What the fuck..." You didn't owls could do that. It looked back at you before flapping its wings, "Oh, bye," It flew to a branch a little ways in front of you, staring. You sat there, not knowing what it wanted as it hooted at you. You lifted an eyebrow before getting up, following the owl as it took off again.

The owl lead you to an old mill, the wood walls having cracks in them as the wheel moved with the water. You held up your arm, the owl landing on it before you realized these things were heavy and needed the help of your other hand to hold it up. "So, what now?" The owl stared at you before looking back at the door, "You want me to go in there?" It hooted. You walked up to the door and opened it, seeing the inside was nicely kept as another shiver went up your spine. You closed the door behind you, the owl taking flight and landing in front of the lit fire place. You tilted you head, the owl doing the same as you chuckled to yourself. "You're a strange owl, owl."

You walked up to in and sat down beside it, petting its head a couple times and yawning. The owl flew up the stairs, staring at you as you followed it into a bedroom. "Do you live here?" You stared at it, not actually thinking you would get an answer as the owl nodded. You sat on the bed, patting the spot beside you as the owl came over and sat beside you. "Night, little guy," you got under the covers, receiving a hoot in reply.
——————
You woke up with a yawn, the owl nowhere to be seen a you walked down the stair. You froze as you saw someone in the kitchen, slowly backing up the stair. "Good morning!" He turned around, a plate of pancakes in his hands and confusion on his face. You turned back around, "Uh, okay." You stared at him before pointing your thumb to the door, "I'm just... I'm just gonna go." You jumped off the stairs and reached the doorknob, "But I made pancakes," His hair deflated as he set the plate down on the table. You couldn't say no. You walked back over to him, his hair going back to normal as you stood in front the table. "Sit, sit! I'll get the plates," You sat down as he grabbed plates and silverware, "So, who are you?"

His hair deflated and you didn't know if this guy knew what physics were, "You don't remember? I took you here..." He mumbled as he set the plates down, "You're the owl?!" You gabbed the table and leaned forward, startling him, "Uh, yes?" Even he sounded confused by his answer. You stared at him for awhile, beads of sweat forming on his brow. "That is so cool!"
