"Parvathi," the man called her.
"Bhai, where is the doctor? " she asked him.
"Because of the rain, I can't get the doctor," he explained. The man glanced at Adthiya, who was observing their conversation with indifference. He pulled Parvathi out of the room by holding her.
"Are you an idiot? Don't you have any shame? " he yelled at her.
"Bhai, what did I do? "
"Just shut your mouth. " With that, she lowered her head.
"Parvathi, you are a disgrace to our family. When you mentioned someone with injuries, I assumed it was a woman. If Papa finds out about this, you're finished," he roared. She remained silent, not saying a word.
"Answer me now," he said, and only then did she look up.
"Bhai, I just helped him. Didn't you see he was badly injured? I couldn't leave him alone in that condition," she replied.
"You always have a ridiculous excuse. Now what should we do? The doctor isn't here," he asked.
"Bhai, don't worry. I already removed the bullet from his wound. Now we just need to get medication for infection," she told him.
A slap struck Parvathi's cheek, and her eyes began to overflow with tears.
"How dare you touch a strange man's body? When I entered the room, you were sitting too close to him. Did you do something with him? " he hurt her with his words.
"Bhai, why are you speaking like that? I just helped him," she said, her voice heavy with emotion.
"Oh, I can't tolerate your stupidity anymore. I'm going to tell Papa about this. " With that, he began to walk away.
Parvathi begged him, holding onto his leg. "Bhai, please, this is the last time. Please, Bhai," she cried.
"Alright, I won't tell Papa, but you have to give me something," he insisted.
"What, Bhai? "
"Give me some money; it's urgent," he demanded.
"Bhai, I don't have any money right now," she replied.
"Don't play this act. Just go and ask that man for some money for saving his life," he said casually.
"Bhai, how can I ask someone for money after helping him? I won't," she declared. Again, a slap landed on her cheek.
"Just go and ask. You helped him, and he looks like some rich man. "
"Okay, Bhai, I will ask him for some money," she agreed.
Adthiya's POV:
After she left with that man, I figured he was her brother. I followed them. When I got near the door, I heard a slap. Her brother yelled at her angrily, but she remained silent. When he threatened to tell Papa, her face went pale, and she began to beg him while holding onto his legs. Watching her plead weighed heavily on my heart; I disliked seeing her beg anyone.
After a while, her brother told her to ask me for money, and she agreed. I know all these low-class women are only interested in money they all want money.
I sat on my bed, frustrated, waiting for her to arrive so I could throw some money in her face. After some time, I heard the sound of the room door opening. I pretended to be asleep and placed my watch, ring, and wallet on the nearby table. She entered the room, and her footsteps approached me.
I watched her with half-closed eyes as she took my watch, ring, and wallet and put them in her cupboard.
"I know she's just like that woman," I thought.
