"Brother, I only have 25,000," she said.
"Dammit, I want 40,000. . . where can I go for the rest? " he asked her angrily.
"Why are you acting like this today? " she asked softly.
"What? My situation seems like acting to you? " he said, gripping her shoulder tightly.
"Please, calm down. . . we can solve this problem together," she urged.
"Give me that," Ram demanded.
She shook her head. "No, brother, I won't give it to you. "
"Give it to me, Parvathi, before I lose my temper. "
"I won't give it, brother. " He then approached her dressing table, began searching for something, and grabbed a small packet, but Parvathi snatched it away.
"Parvathi, give that to me," he said angrily.
"I won't, brother," she replied, raising her voice slightly. Ram raised his hand to slap her, and she closed her eyes, but a strong hand stopped him. Adthiya held Ram's hand firmly.
"Stay out of our family matters," Ram said, trying to shake off Adthiya's grip, but Adthiya glared at him fiercely. Ram felt a pang of fear as he looked into Adthiya's eyes, and Adthiya twisted Ram's hand back roughly.
"Ah, it's hurting, let go of my hand," Ram pleaded.
"Didn't your mother teach you not to raise your hand at a woman? " Adthiya said in a terrifying voice.
Ram winced as Adthiya twisted his hand further. Parvathi, watching the scene unfold, felt fear from his actions, voice, and eyes. She pushed Adthiya away from her brother and rushed to his side. "Bhai, is it hurting? I'm sorry, bhai. "
Adthiya was furious at her actions. He stood up for her, but she pushed him. His male ego began to take control as he approached Parvathi, gripping her elbow to make her face him.
"Who are you to push me? How dare you touch me with your filthy hands? " he roared, and she flinched at his voice, closing her eyes in fear.
"Leave her, I told you to leave her," Ram said angrily.
"Shut up," Adthiya spat back.
"Don't shout at my brother. . . you mean nothing to me, and I don't need your support," Parvathi replied, locking eyes with him. They glared at each other.
At that, Adthiya released her. He walked over to one of the windows in the room.
"Bhai, take this chain for some money," Parvathi offered him one chain.
"Send him away as soon as possible," Ram said, and with that, he left the room.
Parvathi looked at Adthiya, who was staring out the window with angry eyes. His arm began to bleed from Parvathi's sudden push.
There he was, standing by the window, his arm bleeding profusely. Then I recalled that I had pushed him. If I hadn't shouted at him, he wouldn't have ended up in a fight. That's why I yelled at him. I don't know where I found the courage to do so he looked quite dangerous. Even now, my hands are trembling.
I approached him and said, "Look, you're bleeding because of your anger. "
"It's not because of my anger; it's because of your push," he replied with a glare.
"I know, I'm sorry. . . but what could I do? If I hadn't pushed you away from my brother, he would have beaten you to a pulp. I didn't want you two to fight," I explained.
He smirked at me.
"Seriously, my brother is a good fighter. Why did you hurt him? I appreciate your support, but this is the first time I've seen my brother this angry, and it's the first time he slapped me," I admitted, and he was listening.
