"How stupid are we to be doing this?" Liam asked in a pained tone, walking down the school hallway, headed for the locker room.

"We're not stupid." Scott sighed, walking beside him. "We're desperate."

"How desperate?"

Scott stoped just as he was about to push open the lock room door and let out another sigh as he turned to Liam.
"Incredibly desperate."

The two walked into the room, finding Theo and Tracy waiting for them.

"I told you we'd end up on the same side." Theo chuckled with too smug of a grin.

Liam smiled at him fakely.
"How about I punch you in the balls to remind you we're not?"

"I love this kid!" Theo genuinely laughed at his remark, but Tracy just scowled at Scott and Liam.
"I don't." She said with irritation.

"We know you're not on our side, Theo.
You said you wanted to help Lydia, but you left Eichen with something else, didn't you?"

"You mean the mask?" A playful Curiosity to Theo's voice. "Are you worried about that?"

"Did you put it on?" Scott asked.
Theo just smiled, which Scott took as a "yes" and continued on.
"Who did you see?"

"Not Mason." Theo shrugged.

"What does that mean?" Liam began, more hope than confusion to his tone. "It's not him?"

"It probably means he's a lost cause." Tracy smirked rudely at them. "And he's not the only one."

Theo shot Tracy a scolding look before turning back to Scott as if nothing happened.
"We all want the same thing." He took a deep inhale. "We want Mason back."

"Okay," the true alpha scoffed, "but the difference is that we want him back alive."

"Well, I'm open to compromise." Theo shrugged. "You still got the map with the telluric currents on it?"

Scott looked wary about this question, but ultimately nodded.

"Bring it to the operating theater in two hours."

As Liam and Scott began to walk out of the locker room, Liam turned back to Tracy.

"What did you mean?" He questioned. "When you said that Mason's not the only lost cause."

"I'm talking about the baby hunter, of course." She replied, her attitude making it sound as if the answer should have been obvious.

"Tracy..." Theo muttered as a way of instructing her to stop.

"Trust me, she won't be bothering you anymore!" Liam spat before storming out of the locker room, leaving Scott to deal with the chimeras.

"Scott, what does he mean?" Theo asked, his demeanour changed suddenly, a complete vulnerability to him.

"Thea's..." he took in a sharp breath. "Thea's not herself, her mother's gone, dead."

Scott left the room before Theo could react, headed for the car that he knew Liam was already sitting in.

Liam gave him a skeptical look as soon as Scott shut the car door after entering.
"How desperate are we?"

Scott faced him after closing the car door.
"Incredibly."

Thea didn't care how her footsteps echoed through the tunnels, how her socks were uncomfortably damp from the murky puddle water seeping through her shoes or how she was walking though the darkness alone.
All that mattered was finding Mason.

She held her tote bag close to her body, not wanting to somehow loose the important items within.

"Little help?" Thea muttered under her breath when she met a crossroads in the tunnel, annoyed with herself for asking.

The voice didn't return, but she received answer of sorts.
Feeling herself being drawn to one of the tunnels, she kept on walking in that direction.

It didn't take long for her to find familiarity in the tunnels, but the memories didn't offer her any comfort so she picked up her pace and kept closing in on her target.

"Where is he?" Scott questioned, leading the search party while Liam, who knew Mason's scent best, followed behind the two in the tunnels.

"I thought we were looking for him?" Theo replied, turning his head to face Scott's, who was rolling his eyes.
"You know who I'm talking about."

"Deucalion?"

"You shouldn't trust him." Scott said, removing Theo from his sight and facing the path ahead of him instead.

Theo shot him an exasperated look.
"You're the one who let him live."

"I'm not a murderer."

Theo scoffed at his last statement.
"You still think you're gonna get through this without killing anyone?"

"I didn't say that." Scott sighed, a clear annoyance to him.

Just then, Liam stoped walking, leading the other two to stop as well.
"We're close."

"You get his scent?" Scott asked, now fully turned around to face him.

Liam nods worriedly, which visibly interests Theo. He closed his eyes to better his focus, honing in on his sent.
"Masons sent isn't the only one." Theo said, almost chocking on the words, causing Scott to be confused—not by the Theo's words, but his reaction.

Liam nodded. "Thea's here."

"Which likely means she's here for the same reason as us." Scott sighed though clenched teeth, making it obvious that he wasn't only worried about mason.

"Scott, she's close." Liam said anxiously. "I don't know how we didn't pick up on her sent before."

"It's quite simple really." All eyes where on her in an instant. "An old family trick."
Thea emerged from the shadows from behind the three boys.

"Thea, what are you doing here?" Scott asked, taking a few cautious steps forward, getting closer to Thea.

"Following you. You're better trackers than I,
and you would have lead me straight to mason. I just didn't realise this family trick had a proximity limit." Thea chucked flatly, shaking her head at the ground, visibly frustrated with her mistake.

"Thea, just go home." Scott pleaded, now no more than five feet away from her. "I don't want to hurt you."

Both Liam and Theo—who were stood behind Scott— both shared twin expressions.
A mix of emotions ran through them, shock, anxiety, confusion but most of all anticipation.

"Hurt me?" Thea laughed humourlessly, reaching a hand behind her back. "No scott, I don't want to hurt you."

"Thea! What the fuck?!" Liam shouted, leaping forward only to drag Scott back by the shoulder.

Thea stood strong and still, aiming the gun straight at Scott's head.
"Silver bullets." She said sternly stepping closer to the three boys as they began to back away. "I'm not a bad person. I don't want to hurt you, but I'm more than capable."

"Silver bullets won't work on me." Theo replied, his arms raised in the same surrendering pose as the other two. "Remember?"

"I don't need the bullets to hurt you," Thea whispered loud enough for them to hear without the help of the supernatural, "they just get the point across."

One gasp of shock.
One howl of agony.
One echoing sound of a gunshot.
