You were in highschool. Freshman year.
You had a crush on the most gorgeous boy ever. Austin. He wasn't popular, and he was very shy. And he was adorable. You had no clue why you were the only who seemed to admire him.

You sit next to him in a couple classes, and you were selected together to work on a project.

It was English, and this was a lesson that you and him sat together.

You were a little late, so you hurried into the class, quickly dropping your bag under the table and taking your seat beside Austin.

"Y/N Y/L/N, anything to say about your lateness?" Your teacher asked.
"Oh, sorry for being late Mrs Smith." You apologised.

You weren't very well organised at school anyways.

Austin looked at you, quickly, smiling. He shuffled in his chair and opened his book.

You reach into your pocket for a pen, and that's when you realise you had left it at home.

You look at Austin, wondering wether to ask him for a pen.

"Austin, do you have a pen I could borrow for this lesson? I'll give it back, I promise." You whispered.

He quickly reaches into his bag and gives you a pen.

"Here." He smiled.
"Thank you."

"Y/N and Austin, stop talking!" The teacher yelled.

Austin doesn't really get yelled at, he's very well behaved at school.

You decided to get him out of trouble.

"He wasn't even talking, I asked him for a pen!" You argued with the teacher.
"Don't talk back Y/N!"
"He didn't even talk!" You argued.
"I saw you both talking." The teacher said.
"Well he wasn't." You muttered.

Austin nudges you.

"It's fine. Don't get yourself into trouble." He whispered.
"Sorry. I didn't want you to get into trouble." You apologised.
"It's okay." He said.

When the teacher finally let us talk, I turned back to Austin.

"I hate Mrs Smith." I rolled my eyes.
"Me too. But she's gonna give us a load of detentions if we don't do this work. Would you wanna maybe..work with me?" He asked.

You look back at your friend in English. She must've guessed that since you didn't walk over to her, you weren't working with her, and instead you were working with Austin.

"Yeah, sure." You nod.
"Oh, no, you can go work with your friend, sorr-" He said, realising you were looking over to your friend.
"No, I wanna work with you."

Maybe that was a bit risky to say that.

He smiled down. "Oh. Okay."

You thought that, maybe he liked you too. But you had no way of telling.

"So, like, what's the answers? I didn't really listen at all." You chuckled, clicking the pen repeatedly.
"We just have to pick out key information from this extract of the book, and then we have to put a paragraph together explaining the contents of the extract." He explained.

You had to be honest, that went in one ear, and right out the other.

"Oh, right, okay." You nodded.

He was looking at you, smiling. "You didn't get any of that, did you?"
"I tried, I promise." You chuckled.
"Just copy mine if you want." He said, beginning to write.
"Thanks..but..we don't have to do the work." You say. You knew he was a good student, and he was afraid of getting into trouble, so you didn't think he would agree.
"Just copy mine." He said, getting on with the work.
