Bad News

It was Christmas and you and Austin were visiting his friend Ashley and her family. You had just arrived and you were getting out.

If you were going to be honest, you've been having chest pains but you didn't wanna complain to Austin because he was really excited. He absolutely adored Jupiter, Ashley's daughter, and him and Ashley have been best friend for years now.

He knocked at the door and Ashley opened the door, grabbing the both of you for a hug.

"I missed you guys! I'm tired of talking through a screen." She smiled.
"I know." You agreed.

They lived quite far so when you got there it was late and Jupiter was asleep which was quite a bummer for Austin.

You didn't talk for long as you were all tired as it was so late.

You and Austin were in the spare room and you were both fairly quiet. You were both tired.

He was on his phone next to you whilst you faced inward, looking at him.

A little bit after he turns his phone off and lays down. You're facing each other.

"I love you." You say quietly and kiss him.
"I love you too sweetheart." He replies, revealing running his hand up and down your back.

You don't pull away, you just fall asleep in each others arms.

You woke up with your usual chest pain but brushed it off.

You and Austin both got changed and went downstairs to Ashley.

"Hey you guys." She said.
"Morning." Austin replies.
"Hey." You say.

You let Austin and Ashley talk alone for a bit whilst you went to see Jupiter. You loved Jupiter and you hoped one day you and Austin would have a baby too.

Austin comes and sits down on the couch where you were playing with Jupiter, and Ashley wasn't far behind him.

You were making Jupiter giggle and squeal excitedly. She absolutely adored you.

"She loves you. She's never this happy in the morning. Always so grumpy and sleepy." Ashley laughed.
"Uhm, well I am her best friend so what do you expect." You joked.
"True. She's always blabbing your name."
"Really?" You smiled.
"Yeah!" Ashley says.

You get up and sit back down next to Austin. He slid his hand around your waist and you leant against him.

Jupiter stares at you blankly, and she puts a little frown on her face.

"You have to go back and play with her." Austin says.
"Yeah. She's mad." Ashley pitched in, laughing.
"Austin you go." You said.
"She doesn't even like me as much as you, but okay." He said and got up to go play with her.

You cough a few times. You're sure you might be getting sick with something.

Austin looks at you. He mouths, 'you okay?'

You just nod.

You sigh and rub your forehead.

Throughout the day you've been feeling increasingly worse. Not wanting to cause any problems, you're just trying to get on with it. But by the end of the day you really just wanted to go to bed. You went to bed at about midnight.

You got into bed and faced away from Austin.

He shuffles over and spoons you.

"I know your not feeling well. I can tell." He says.
"Well obviously you can't tell because I'm fine." You lied.
"Y/N, just tell me. I know it, you know it, so what's wrong. We can go home if you're feeling sick. Just give me the words and I'll drive you home whenever you like." He says.
"I didn't wanna say anything because you were really excited to come here." You looked down.
"Aww..darlin. Thank you." He said and pressed a kiss onto your forehead. "You wanna go home?"
"No, it's fine. I can act fine until we leave." You say.
"I love you baby." He kissed your lips.
"I love you too." You replied.

The next few days you tried to keep out the way of everyone because you didn't wanna get anyone else sick. Certainly not Jupiter.

It wasn't long before you started to feel really bad, and you didn't wanna get out of bed or anything. This was when Austin decided that it's probably best if you go home now. You also booked a doctors appointment, but it was most likely nothing.

(time skip a few days)

You had your doctors appointment and you hadn't really felt any better. So you went to it, obviously. And Austin came to.

You were called in.

"So..I think you might have some issues with your heart..I can get you in for another appointment next week if you'd like to discuss this further? It's optional, but we will be sending an email tomorrow to confirm, when the tests come back." She offered.

You didn't really listen to the rest of that conversation.

When you came out you walked straight past Austin and ignored him.

"Is everything okay?" He asked, trying to keep up with you.

You walk faster, away from him.

"Baby." He said, grabbing your shoulder.
"I'm breaking up with you!" You said. You figured, that he'd be so mad that you broke up with him, that he wouldn't care at all.

"What..?" He said. You stopped.

"Yeah." You said, your eyes watering.
"Why?.." he said, his eyes watering too.
"I'm sorry." You look down.
"I love you..why? At least tell me what the doctor said. Cause I'll worry about you." He says.
"So I just..I just thought that you..if you ever find out what the doctor said..you'll hate me for breaking up with you."

He frowned and shook his head.

"That doesn't make sense..because I could never hate you..I promise..whatever's wrong I will still love you. Can you not have kids? Cause I promise I still love you."
"No..It's not that." You shook your head. "They think there might be something with my heart."

He sighs.

"So you're gonna break up with me because of that..?" He questioned.
"No." You shook your head.
His face lights up. He grabbed you and hugged you.

The next day, you got an email like the doctors said you would and it turns out it you were fine. You were so glad you stayed with Austin. After all, there must've been something wrong with your heart if you had broken up with him.
