After the Fact. -Ethan winters x Fem reader-

July 14th

"A BABY? WHAT"

He did not take it well.

-4 hours before-

The baby had just fallen asleep and you were resting your eyes, now and then checking on the baby.

Your mind was full. What if Ethan did not want her? What if he was mad at you for even thinking you could bring a baby into the picture? You tried shaking it off until you got home but it just wasn't working. You decided to call the baby Daisy until you got home. You traced Daisy's face with your finger before getting up and using the bathroom.

Chris had put you and Daisy into a room, it was small, but it was fine. You got up and washed your face off and used the bathroom, then made Daisy a bottle and sat back down on the bed. You kept glancing at your phone, over and over again,

2:34 am

Ethan and Rose were asleep. You looked at Daisy and stared into outer space. How would Rose react to a baby.. now that you're genuinely thinking about it, where would she go? Rose already doesn't have a big enough room. You thought about your old house in Romania, you kinda of missed it. It was huge, perfect for a family of four.

You shook your thoughts away and moved Daisy next to you so you could get some rest before going home. You covered up and protected Daisy with your arm so she wouldn't fall.

"Goodnight Daisy.."

6:56 am

You were awoken by Chris who let you know you're back home- er the base back home. You shot up and checked on Daisy, who was still sound asleep. Smiling, you got up and did a quick rundown of everything you brought and found.

-Bag of lei
-a bunch of old belongings of Duke
-A necklace that belonged to Luiza
-more unusual unnecessary items

You looked over at your phone and noticed a text from Ethan. You decided to ignore it till you were on the drive home.

"Y/n, let's go!" You heard Chris say, he hasn't been himself since the village and you don't blame him. He watched people he cared for die.

Again.

You grabbed your stuff and Daisy, she wined but eventually went back to sleep. Chris was waiting for you at the car and you got in, sitting in the front with Daisy. Chris got in and looked at you. "You got everything?" You nodded. "How is Ethan gonna react to her..?" He asked, you shrugged. "I genuinely don't wanna think about that, if worst comes to worst, she can go up for adoption." you hadn't become too attached to her, so that was good.

You opened your phone and saw Ethan's text message.

Ethan 🤍: hey love, let me know when you're almost home! I can't wait to see you!

You smiled at his message and texted back.

You: hey baby, I'm on the way now!

You closed your phone and left it at that.

Daisy was still sound asleep when you arrived at home, Ethan was outside with Rose who was in her stroller. He looked so happy when the car pulled up. You left Daisy asleep in the seat when you got out.

Ethan rushed to hug you and he hugged tight, very very tight. "Baby I can't breathe-" he let you go and hugged you. "Oh I missed you so much and I'm so happy you're home!". You smiled and kissed Ethan.

"I have something to tell you, and show you. But promise you won't get mad." Ethan looked at you with a puzzled look. Went to the car and grabbed her, slowly turning around.

Ethan's face dropped. He looked at Chris, who just shrugged.

"A BABY? WHAT."

you sighed and walked up to Ethan. "Chris found her after Eveline died. She was most likely the daughter of a scientist that died, please baby, she doesn't have a family-" Ethan looked at you with an upsetting face. "We can't keep her, we don't have space, and I don't want her in in this house. I don't know who she belongs to and especially since eveline just died, there's no saying who this baby genuinely is!" Chris grabbed your bags and carried them to your door. He had to go so he said his goodbyes and said If the baby was going up for adoption let him know.

"Ethan-" he cut you off. "Baby, I understand you wanna keep her safe but we can't handle a baby, we just can't. We can keep her until Chris can come back but we just can't y/n." You nodded and walked inside, Ethan grabbed your belongings and carried them inside. You set Daisy into Roses' playpen and went and grabbed Rose.

Her face lit up when you picked her up, you gave her a kiss on her forehead before sitting down with her and hugging her close. Ethan walked in and looked at Daisy then back at his family sitting on the couch. "So.. what do we do about her..?" He asked while sitting down. Daisy was playing with Rose's toys, unbothered. You shrugged, "I'm not sure, I wasn't really planning on giving her up.. so."

Ethan sighs and grabs Daisy, not wanting her to feel left out. "She's cute, she has blond hair like Rose." You smiled, "Yea, im calling her Daisy for the time being. So she's just not her or the baby-"

Ethan laughed. "Daisy and Rose?" You nodded with a small smile. "She was holding onto a Daisy when Chris found her, I guess I didn't think of their names like that though"

The house was silent, the babies babbled here and there, but nothing was really said. You laid your head on Ethan's shoulder and he played with Daisys hand until she fell asleep. Ethan put her down and rose eventually fell asleep as well.

The two babies laid together in Roses crib and you crawled up with Ethan on the couch. He played with your hair and you sighed. "I missed you baby" you said while listening to him breath. "I missed you a lot more, tell me about your trip!" You shot up and ran to your bag and grabbed the findings from the village. You pulled the coffee table close and sorted everything out there.

"Look!" Ethan gasped and started going through the stuff, starting with Luiza's necklace and ending with the lei. You two shared good memories from the village together and a few tears. "I wish Duke was able to escape with us.." you said while laying on Ethan's shoulder, he traced your hand and gently pressed your knuckles.

"I agree, I miss him sorta, he saved my life- I'm not sure how but he was there" Ethan smiled while reminiscing the moment he woke up in the back of dukes caravan, alive and not dead.

You and Ethan ate dinner, which was takeout, and watched tv until the babies woke up for their dinner. When they did you fed Daisy since she was more accustomed to you, and Ethan fed rose. They played and went back to sleep, you got up and showered and so did Ethan.

Cuddled up in your bed with your husband you kissed him and smiled.

"I'm happy I have you"
